Hi all! I stumbled onto this forum after being linked a thread on Koolie breeding, and I decided to stick around. Like everyone else I'm sure, I'm nuts for my dog.
Her name is Cohen, and she's a 1.5 year old Australian Shepherd. She's named after Leonard Cohen because, well, why not?
I'm a big fan of dog training, and I lucked out with a dog who's a big fan of learning. Cohen was probably the most easily trained pup I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She got her CGN at 8 months old, her RN at 10 months, and lately we've been working on competitive obedience and agility, as well as the next level of rally.
When she's not out sporting, she's soliciting attention. She gets bored easily, so she keeps me on my toes. To date Cohen knows more than 50 separate cues/behaviours, and I'm starting to run out of ideas for what to teach her.
As for myself, I'm a big dog nerd, and a bigger training nerd. I love reading about various techniques, with special attention paid to purely positive reinforcement. I recently got a job as a training assistant at a local R+ training school, which I adore. I live in Toronto.
Anyways, that's enough for now. Here are some photos!
Cohen with her Novice Rally ribbons.
Cohen after a fun day on the beach.
Puppy pictures! She's deceptively quiet and well behaved in this one.
This one has more of the mischievous look she's renowned for.
This is a photo of my last dog, Diefenbaker. He was the most relaxed Aussie I've ever met, and a total sweetheart his entire life.
