First, I am sorry I came to this thread so late. I don't know what made me read through it...just something about the title, I guess. Anyway, can I make a suggestion and I realize this was done very quickly to try to stave off the devil herself...but next time you want to start a campaign like this, don't mention the group you belong to, otherwise it looks like just what it is a bunch of friends trying to help out. I've done letter writing campaigns before and approached this "president" in a different way...here's my email which was titled: Article Response Request
Hi, my name is Nanci and I edit pet travel guides. I am a general all-around dog lover. I'm not going to take time from your busy schedule with any more detail than that.
However, I have received a story from a fellow dog lover about what should have been an easy adoption gone aray for no reason other than what sounds like someone's "God" complex. I know none of the individuals involved in this situation, but I will tell what has been offered to me as the facts and ask if you would like to respond before we post the story on our website:
The bare facts:
A lady named Jessica had made arrangements to adopt a dog named Charlie, a Catahoula mix, from a shelter in South Carolina. Charlie has been in foster care for nearly 1-1/2 years. Jessica was accepted with open arms by the foster family and made arragement to pick the dog up.
At that point a woman named Dorothy stepped into the adoption process and halted the adoption after determining that the prospective adoptor, Jessica, did not have a large enough fenced area.
Result: Jessica is heartbroken, the foster family is perplexed and the entire dog world is learning about a woman named Dorothy and her "God" complex.
I've worked with a number no-kill shelters, done a bit of pulbic relations work for several, and went through a somewhat similar situation when I adopted my youngest dog from a shelter (she was too small to live with a larger dog--that was 6 years ago and today they are inseperable). I understand and applaud efforts to make the perfect match with the pet going to the perfect home. I'm just wondering what this woman is thinking when she feels it is better to leave a dog in foster care when he's been there this length of time, rather than putting him in a home where he is wanted...even if it isn't perfect.
Either way, I will be posting the story (only including details of last names and shelter name). I wanted to give you an opportunity to respond on behalf of the shelter.
Thank you for your time.

I just sent this so there's been no time for a response and know that this is no idle threat...we will post the information on the website under...I don't know...maybe pets who lose to beauracracy (sp)...or something like that.
