How is the training going? they are so cute!

I really do feel your pain, though admittedly you
are feeling it x2 what I went through.

The pee pads really do send the wrong idea, please stop
since they should be able to hold it in their crates for
the amount of time you specified.

It took me over 6 months to really train my shih tzu even
with doing everything right like you are. I was also in
an apartment and I really think its harder for them to
understand with the amount of time it takes you to get
out the door and to the grass.
I was literally taking him out every 30 minutes for months
to get my point across.

I would probably up the amount of praise when they
go outside and even touch them the "poo" and "pee"
commands. Be sure to give immediate praise. I know
some people give treats right after the eliminate.
Eventually when you say "no" inside and you praise
enough outside they just seem to "get" it. They
associate inside with their den and do no want to soil it.

Maybe I missed it, but are you also taking them out
right when they wake up? after they eat? etc

Charlie did not get going to the door to be let out either
until we got a house with a fenced yard, but I trained
him when we where in the apt to come to me and make
a noise to be let out, much easier even when you have
a house because you may be nowhere near the door
when they need to go.

As for a litter box, it is NOT the same as a cat litter
box. I do not travel with my cat, and don't know many
people who do, but I travel with my dog.
Not many people want to take a litter box with
them to a hotel, friends, families house etc

Is it just me, or is everyone saying the same thing?

I think we can give this one a rest, considering that the OP hasn't posted anywhere in over two weeks. Maybe he got tired of the same advice over and over.
