ARTIST NATHAN JANES PARTNERS WITH RATIONAL ANIMAL OF NYC

Nathan Janes has recently announced a partnership with Rational Animal, a New York nonprofit organization, which creates media campaigns to increase public awareness about at-risk animals. To support the organization’s Animal Guardian Ribbon campaign Janes has designed a pewter lapel pin that will be distributed to animal rescue organizations nation-wide. The pin is an orange ribbon, the official ribbon for animals, and will be used to advocate guardianship rather than ownership of animals. According to Rational Animal, people who are Animal Guardians adopt from shelters and rescue organizations, spay and neuter their pets to reduce overpopulation and give love and care to animals.

In order to further support the Animal Guardian Ribbon campaign, Janes has designed and produced an original work titled “Awaiting a Guardian” which depicts an adoptable dog donning the orange ribbon on his collar. The dog is also wearing an “Adopt Me” vest which is used by animal rescue organizations nationally to bring attention to adoptable dogs while in public spaces. Both “Awaiting a Guardian” and Janes’ design of the official ribbon for animals are viewable at his website, www.poparf.com. I really like the word gaurdian. That is so much better then master or owner. Much much closer to the truth of the relationship. Hats off to this artist and the efforts for our good canine friends. I hope he raises a great deal of funds.
