Buddy will NOT stop eating his paw. It's getting worse and worse. *sigh*

We've tried R-7 liquid bandage spray, hydrocortisone sprays, anti-itch sprays, bitter apple GEL and this kid will just eat, eat, eat his paw. Sooo frustrating.

We've been able to wrap it a couple times now. So I try to keep it wrapped and let it breathe for a little bit each day so it can "heal" but he's constantly chewing, licking, biting.

Help?

I don't think the e-collar would work... I'm pretty sure he was still able to get to his paw last time.... I'm not positive though.

soak his whole foot? will that be bad for the sores? I'll try if it'll be okay for the rawness...

Alrighty. We're going to the store anyways and I'll give it a try. Thanks. :)
I hope it helps...

Also, have you looked really closely inbetween his foot pads to be sure there aren't any foreign bodies present? Sometimes they'll get a sticker in there and they lick like crazy! If it's just one paw he's licking I would be suspicious.

If the ACV is too strong you can always soak in cold water which greatly reduces swelling, itching and irritation.

I hope he's over it soon.

Thank you. :)

I check it every day looking for new sores and what not and I've never seen anything like a sticker or a cut or anything. Its his whole paw- the pads, the top, even up his foot a few inches. I just don't know anymore...

Sounds like you may have already, but look deep underneath, inbetween the pads. If there is something in there, they will lick their whole foot even though it's just a small spot.

My pug Goose did that once. Wouldn't leave his whole paw alone. I thought it was an allergy and he actually had a thorn up between his pads.

If you use the water, make sure it's really cold and keep his paw submerged for a while. You can stand him in the bath tub too with a few inches of cold water. The cold water really helps, but don't dry his feet.

My Buddy does that this time of the year too. He is allergic to something and I have to take him to the vet. They give me a spray for his feet. Clears it up in about a week. I've read about this same thing on other forums too.

PS: He isn't doing it this year yet because his front feet are all bandaged from having his dew claws removed. Poor Boy...:(
