I'd like to be a saver. Every time I get something decent saved, **** comes up.
That. Oh? Feeling good about meeting your savings goals this month? Well then how about the sewage line backs up and you need that fixed. Oh and the dog is sick. And your car is broken.

I'd like my emergency fund to keep growing but I keep having emergencies.

I honestly have no idea.

I stock up on things we need when they are on sale (food, pantry staples, paper products etc) so I typically never pay full price for them, but I'm not one of those coupon crazy people either (the only times I've bought magazines or papers for coupons I got burned because I frankly couldn't use any of them).

I also typically only buy clothes when they are cheap and/or there is a sale, and stock up on kids clothes for the next size up that way as well.

But if I want a book or blu-ray or something, I'll just buy it (typically though I don't pay for them as I get so many Amazon gift cards with Swagbucks). And I spend too much money on stuff for my kids as a whole.

I also like eating out twice a month, because I'm tired of having to figure out meals all the time.

So... middle ground I guess.

The SO is super good at the whole saving thing. I think part of my problem was I just always made enough to just scrape by. no extras.
This.This.This.

Oh you saved up enough to buy the new laptop you need for school... your place of work closes. Then it doesn't close. Then they decide to close it on the last day of work. Then they tell you they still have a job for you... and all of a sudden they don't. <- yeah that. :p

Boyfriend and I are both savers, though we do both have things we splurge on. He goes all out when we go on vacations, and I go all out on animal things. I will buy a $150 collar without blinking an eye, but spend money on clothes?? For me?? Madness!

Spender, I guess. I never have disposable income to choose to save or spend, I tend to live paycheck to paycheck.

I would consider myself a spender. I save a little and spend a lot. I'm impulsive when I see something I like. I like buying things. Like clothes, dog stuff, shoes, and shoes, oh and shoes.

Unfortunately I'm a spender. I always struggle so hard to save money.

For example, I wanted to save a certain amount of money to invest but now that I have the money, I find myself wanting to upgrade my piano which I'm currently not happy with. But if I do that, all my saved money will be gone and I won't be able to invest it. But on the other hand, I have a piano right now, it works but I just don't like it, it's a portable good quality digital which was the best at the time, around 8 years ago but I hate the action of the keys. Such a dilemma...

I would say both. We are heavily saving for our wedding. In august, but bought a ski boat on the weekend. We like enjoying life and that means we have to spend a little money here and there.

^ So much this.

We save. But more often than not that savings has to go towards some large expense or another.

I think that I was broke for so long that I got used to having to spend everything on necessities, and then when I started earning more than just enough to scrape by, I didn't even think about saving because it wasn't already a habit. I'm trying really hard to set money aside every single pay check and change my bad habits.
I'm in the same boat. After 8 or 9 years of a sick horse, this is the first time in my life I'm not living paycheck to paycheck. When I get a few days from the end of the pay period and realize I still have money left over, I have been buying stuff I never would have been able to before (not extravagant stuff, but "hey I can buy a new winter coat for the first time in 5 years!" and such). I've been slowly trying to get in the habit of setting something aside every paycheck, even if it is just $50. Just to try and make it a habit.

I'd like to be a saver. Every time I get something decent saved, **** comes up.
And that. Good heavens yes. I remember hearing a comic years ago comment on it, and saying they hoped they never won the lottery, because then $10 million worth of crap would happen to them. I definitely fall into that category.
