Are there any dog breeds you find ugly/dislike the look of?

Izzie is sad that she's ugly... She'll go hide in her ugly corner now. She can't help that she was hit with the ugly stick and that she is repulsive to everyone, she is sincerely sorry that she pollutes chaz with her ugly ugly mug. Lol.

I don't like Boxers, at all. Most are gross to me. Labs are just not my cup of tea, neither are most setters. Hairless dogs creep me out, i hate having to touch them. Most chihuahuas here (as in my city) are just weird looking, like their necks are being squeezed so hard their eyes are inflating and gonna pop out. Hounds with lots of droopy droopy skin look like they'd smell, same with mastiffs. Doodles are just weird to me, their fur is like weird and random and they all just look wonky to me.

ETA: I'm joking about that first bit BTW... Y'all won't be able to escape hideous Izzie pictures ever.

Better not stop with the Izzie pics! :D

There are individual dogs I dislike the look of in almost every breed! Whether they're simply poorly bred and look unhealthy, like bugeyes or bowlegs, or if it's a look I'm just not a fan of, like show bred border collies. I would never fault the dog itself for it, or necessarily let it keep me from what is otherwise the dog for me. But certainly, aesthetically there are dogs out there that just weren't given the pretty paint, and dogs that I just really am not a fan of, looks-wise.

I can't say there's one breed that I actually think is ugly or flat out dislike. The sheer vastness and variety of looks in different dog breeds just fascinates me. I guess it's the creative side of me. :D

I really dislike Neapolitan Mastiffs. I honestly feel so bad for the dogs. All of that loose saggy skin and that huge heavy body to go with it... it's just not natural looking at all. I don't like majorly excessive amounts of skin and wrinkles on a dog anyway, but IMO it goes too far on a Neapolitan.

I also don't care for Cane Corsos. Their bodies just look "off" to me somehow I think it's the fact that they're not very tall dogs, combined with a really high rear and I don't like the docked tail look on the breed (though I've never seen one with a tail). There's just something that I don't care for. I don't really think they're ugly... but they're not my thing.

BYB versions of any breed I don't like, but BYB Dobermans in particular bug me. Temperaments most of the time just are not what I like in a Doberman to begin with, but to look at they're too skinny, lanky and narrow with a very sighthoundy look to them. What bugs me even more are people who purchase a BYB Doberman, and then have the puppy's ears cropped. If you didn't buy your puppy cropped already, do not try to get it done! Especially if you're looking for a bargain price. It takes a lot of care, and chances are you'll end up looking like you butchered your dog's ears because most vets don't know how to crop nicely.

I don't care for extreme brachycephalic dogs either. Most are just too squishy faced and bug eyed looking... I don't mind moderate, though. I find Izzie appealing, and I don't mind my Grandma's Tibetan Spaniel for example.

I really don't like show bred GSDs. I don't know how the people who breed and judge those dogs can think they look even at all physically healthy. It just looks gross to me, and I feel so bad for the dogs. The exxagerated sloping topline and the hock walking is just absurd.

I think that's all. There are other breeds that simply don't appeal to me looks wise, but I don't think they're ugly. They just don't grab and hold my attention.

Ugly dogs? Dandee Dinmonts are the ugliest dogs EVER! Badly put together out of spare parts left over from assembling other kinds of dogs. Yech.

.
I forgot about DD's. I dont find them attractive at all either. So true about the spare body parts. I used to groom one every 2 weeks. And id always chuckle at poor chelsea as she was so funy looking. But she was so sweet it made up for it lol. She would smile the whole time, looking like she was growling at me. But she was sweet as pie

I find myself most drawn to moderately built handler-focused breeds, so it's pretty easy to say that anything that doesn't meet that standard is less appealing to me. Moderate fur, moderate size, moderate snout...

I don't like dogs that look unhealthy. Obviously there are some breeds that have an unhealthy appearance built right into their genetics. The intense folds of the Neo Mastiff, the short snouts of all the brachy breeds, the protruding eyes of so many of the toy breeds, the excess weight of a bench-bred lab, the hairlessness of the (hairless) Crested, the overly long/low backs of the Dachshunds, the fragile bones of the toy breeds, and more.

I'm also not a fan of the domed heads of the show-Cockers. They look infantile to me, and too soft and vulnerable.

I also need my dogs to move easily and fluidly, so I tend to dislike when a gait looks forced or tiring, like that of bulldogs, or the extreme show-GSDs.

Bracchiosephalic dogs are just extremely unappealing to me as are beards. Honestly I don't like the way most toy dogs are put together. Massive amounts of wrinkles or really long thin snouts aren't my thing either. Bullies that look like coffee tables not my thing. I'm not a huge fan of hairless dogs either.

For me, I don't care for the really bad brachycephalic breeds either. I can't stand the snorting and snoring that many of the bostons, pugs and english bulldogs do.

Anything with really buggy eyes, that look like the eyes are about to pop out of the head. I see a lot of Shih Tzu's like this where I work!

I don't typically like hairy faced dogs... except for giant Schnauzers. For some reason I like them.. though doubt I'd ever have one!

Not crazy about really small dogs... or dogs that drool a lot!

Neopolitan mastiffs
bracheocephalic breeds (generally)
achondroplastic breeds (generally)

And then there are breeds that I don't necessarily find ugly, but don't like one or two traits. For example: bearded dogs. I don't like that hair getting in their food bowl. LOL. But I don't think they're ugly all around. I don't care for the wirey coated dogs just because I like the feel of soft fur or hair...not that they're ugly.

I generally like tidy looking dogs. And dogs that look like they could have possibly evolved this way on their own without people messing with them. (with a few exceptions)

But if any dog fell into my lap, I would still like it and find it cute. I've met lots of little Boston Terriers and Frenchies that I think are adorable. I think Frenchies are one of those so ugly they're cute type. They really are nice little dogs.

Dogues are another one I just don't like the look of. I like the look of corsos, filas, bullmastiffs, and many other mastiffs, but dogues and neos just are not appealing to me in any way.

I have seen some really strange boxers too. But really show neos are the only one that I've ever felt icked out by looks wise. The others I just don't care for but I wouldn't say they're ugly to me, just not appealing.

Dandie Dinmonts are freaking adorable to me, though!

I can't think of one dog I find ugly. Even if I find some funny looking, they still have a charm to them. In individual dogs, their attitude is mostly what would turn me off. A very pushy dog, in your face turns me off. Others might like a dog that gives them a challenge, I don't. I like one that goes with the flow.

So, I don't judge a dogs on physical appearance but on their personality and wouldn't turn them away on looks.

Reading this thread, I had to laugh at myself. Almost every dog that someone mentioned that they found ugly, I would say...but aw, they are so cute. Like the long nose (needle nose collie), I just love that about them. Or the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, I used to groom 3 from the same family. Mind you, they did look a bit odd, but those big round eyes just melts my hear, and all 3 were sweethearts. Or the pug....who can't resist the look on that cute smoochy wittle face...aww. I have a few I groom and can't help but kiss they're little nose.. lol

Actually other than chins, cresties, paps, min pins, and IGs, I'm not a fan of the general toy dog build and overly done head pieces. *ducks and hides* Sorry!
Just realized I said this, but chins should be cavs.

Like others, I don't like the super heavily wrinkled breeds like Neos. I think that's about it, though.

ETA: Actually, the really intense gaze of some of the herding breeds occasionally mildly disturbs me. It's not that I think it's ugly, but it can get sort of eerie.

I think this thread could be so hurtful. I have a taste for silly and untraditionally good looking dogs though so I'm okay.

I haven't a whole breed I dislike but I have color patterns I dislike.

I don't like much merle but a good merle is hard to beat.

I love tri colors but some tri color can be down right ugly.

I don't fancy a show marked husky but I love seppala marked huskies (and their builds).

I don't care for most GSD but a nice small, well built gsd is a dog I'd be honored to own.

I usually find most doberman to be overly bodied dogs with narrow ugly heads but I believe a proper dobe is like artwork. I think there are some beautiful doberman on this board.

Most chihuahuas are ugly out there but I love a well bred and built one.

The list can probably go on and on.

Droopy eyes. They make my eyes start to water in sympathy (I know it doesn't hurt, but my mind thinks it should, therefore I get all leaky in empathy)

Neo's for me too. They just look so uncomfortable to me. Other than that its all individual dogs and not types.
