So, I discovered that my new addition can get his head and shoulders through the railings on my second floor condo balcony (I didn't give him a chance to get any further). I don't think he'd jump, but he gets really excited when he sees the downstairs neighbor's dog go out the front door. Is there a kind of mesh/webbing lining that anyone has had success with? Any other ideas? I'm in a historical building, so I cannot make any drastic changes to the exterior. Thanks:)

I saw a collar designed just for your issue a while back, but of course can't remember the name. It went around the dog's neck to block them from getting through the gaps.

we bought a roll of the nylon/plastic bug screen (you knwo the stuff they sell in rolls to replace the screens.
cabletied it to the railings with some tension (so it was taught) of the deck when the wowies were still super little...
did the trick, wasnt realy noticable and was easy to remove when they were big enough to not get past the shoulders lol.

Just a warning...how high is the railing? If he wanted COULD he jump it??

My dog did...he is kinda a crazy idiot, but yeah, he saw a squirrel...and next thing we know he is happily (and thankfully, safely) on the pavement below...

Thanks guys. He can jump a baby gate, but the balcony railing is pretty high. Thanks for the squirrel warning. He is fascinated by them:)
