Anyone watch Americas Most Hated Family last night?

They might give a horrible name to Christians among people who are already biased (though since I used to be one of those people, it only takes a few really unpleasant experiences with fundamentalists to do that to you). But generally, these people are so off the deep end that . . . well, when the counter-protesters are die-hard god-fearing Republicians . . .you know you are dealing with freaks.
IMO they only people they give a horrible name to are themselves and others who are so blinded by self-rightous bigotry to forget even the most basic rules of respect and decency. Most people would agree that you are utterly free to believe that everyone is going to Hell except you (you might be wrong, but you are free to think that). You are even free to say so . . . you are not free (legally you are, but not in any socially acceptable sense) to show up at the funeral of a solider who died for his country, screaming, waiving signs with filthy (by any standard) mottos, and declaring that the solder is going to hell. Its beyond the pale. I've never seen any other Christians, or any other members of ANY other religion, or athiests, or even drunken metal-heads, behave in an equivalent fashion.
But if you are worried about the name that it gives to Christians, denouce it. Ask your ministers to denouce it. Write letters to right-wing talk show hosts, telling them to denouce it (and perhaps suggesting they stop implying much the same things, just in a more appropriate place). Speak up and denouce these people for the blight upon your faith that they are. Stage a counter protest. Join the bikers who gunned their engines when the man started preaching so the funeral could go on, if not in peace, then without such venom and bile being poured into the mourners ears. These people won't go away (everything has been tried) but you can speak out and say that you, and your religion, have no support for them.

I really don't feel that ANY half way intelligent being on this planet would consider THAT group CHRISTIAN.
I am not concerned that people actually believe that Christians are like that...........those people are totally off the deep end.
Not much different in believing the Muslim faith is all about bombing and terrorism. It's not like that at all..........only the uninformed lump them together into one group.

I suspect there are people who do . . .(they do CALL themselves Christian, and their theology, though odd, is definately based off of Christianity) . . . but no, I don't suspect there are many who think they are typical of Christians . . . though I suspect there are plenty who will point to them as an example of why religion is bad . . . and their right to a limited. . . not why religon is bad in general, but why religious fanaticism is bad.
Remember that many people consider terrorists to be a typical example of Muslims. Its just as easy to be bigoted against Christians as Muslims, due to the acts of a few. Many Muslims have strongly condemned the acts of terrorists, quite publicly, and said terrorism has nothing to do with their religion. Some have even declared that those who do such things have no right to call themselves Muslim. The only reason that there is more bias against Muslims than Christains is 1) the 9/11 terrrorists actually killed people (though Timothy McVeigh was a fanatic Christian as well as a paranoid maniac, something over looked), and 2) there are a lot more Christians than Muslims in this country, so a lot more opportunity to observe that the vast majority are fine people.
Personally, I consider this bunch to be Christians, in the sense of believers in that religion. I just don't consider them Christian. Alas, the distinction would be totally lost on them . . .

Well, I must say that the reporter was being very unprofessional . . .and would ahve made that loon sound even crazier if she herself remained calm. I can't really approve of screaming matches on the news in which the reporter participates . . . but on the other hand, I have to admit I enjoyed seeing Shirley humiliated on national television.
lol i don't remember if it's this vid or not *comp crapping out so can't see it* but i saw one where two of the phelps girls were like we don't date. it's not about us it's about God. lol someone should tell their parents/grandparents because looks like there are two girls there who are a result of sin lol

coming from a family who served in the U S A Military ( and dang proud to be ONE), and with several members serving now, it is a shame to think that our military is protecting idiots like this, they OUR BRAVE SOULDIERS are our there fighting everyday, they do not care who they are fighting for ( black whitem Morman what ever) , they are protecting and serving the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,, GOD BLESS THOSE WHO ARE SERVING, and to he*& with these idiots, who do they think they are??? don't get me started...

I don't think Shirley Phelps has the courage to come to California. We wouldn't tolerate that bs from her. I know anyone who tries and protests against a funeral would leave with injuries.
There was also a video on you tube where they had to leave really quickly because people were chasing after them, and banging on the windows to the van they were in, and someone actually broke a window.
The Phelps and their followers are mentally deranged. They honestly need psychiatric help.

Although the reporter was not very professional, she was completely right when she asked why the phelps dont move their church out of the US, and if she understood that SHE was an American, and Shirley just wouldnt shut up about one thing or the other. Lol. They are so one sided, they are ignorant to understand that the bible is totally says nothing about what they are doing being right. Its so sad.

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles. If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink... He who rejoices at calamity shall not go unpunished.
Its in Proverbs and I dont know what verse. But I wonder what Miss Phelps would say to that

They seem to pretty much be against everyone that doesn't support them 100%. My step dad is in Iraq. I can say that if he died and they tried to protest his funeral I would be on top of them before they have time to react. Sure I'd probably most likely go to jail. But, that knowledge wouldn't stop me in the least. I would not let them show my step dad and his fellow soldiers such disrespect. If they ever protest and I'm present, I can assure you they will feel my anger.
