The ingredients do look nice. Unfortunatley, though, there have been too many problems with foreign objects being found in their foods and treats for me to confidently recommend them.

I actually had just recently bought the cans to try a couple with my pups. Pru loved them, JJ didn't care for any of them. I was going to try a few more formulas by then but after having a little problem with finding metal in my dog treats, I think I will pass for a bit. :D

I think it is worth trying with your pups, my only suggestion with this food and any others actually is to really mash up the food before you feed it and inspect it. We should all inspect our dogs food before we feed it to them.

You may want to consider Evangers instead of Merrick. They have some nice formulations like Merrick without the strange quality control issues...

Well, I just tried her first can of it tonight and I have never seen her eat anything with such gusto! The ingredients look really good and I guess as long as I screen the food for foreign objects it should be okay. I can't find Evangers at my local pet stores, like I did the Merricks. The stuff looked good enough for ME to eat! :lol-sign:

:lol-sign: Note that it doesn't say "dog food" on the front on most of the cans. My father was digging though the pantry one day, and pulled out a can of Cowboy Cookout "soup" to bring to work for lunch. I took pity on him and told him what it was!

Anyway, I did feed a few cans of it at one point. I think their labels and descriptions made me happy with it - it does look and sound like people food. Meg ate it as happily as any other canned food. Because of the issues I've heard with it, I have stopped buying Merrick - there are enough other options available to me that I am more comfortable with. I often used Evo's 95% meat formulas in a food tube for training, and Meg loves it!

we like the merrick, i always double check, there was a recall on the wingaling after some of the wings had metal tabs, however all those cans SHOULD have been pulled off the shelves!

my dad actually ate the grammies by accident and loved it...oops! lol.

I feed the Merrick canned, dogs love it. Unfortunately there aren't many flavors that don't have chicken in them. :( But it looks and smells good enough for me to eat. LOL

Merrick is one of the few foods that offers something without chicken or egg product, so we use the Working Dog Stew on the road, and there's one other I think (some kind of fish), that is ok for Ben too.

I just pick through it. I've never heard of any issues other than the "things" and we don't use it often enough to win the metal bits lottery, I suspect.

We use canned tripe most, and Evangers when I can find it. But the Merrick offers nice variety and seems to sit well on the tummy when we are traveling.
