Anyone owns 2 of them and they are living in harmony together?

I was told that they must be brought together since birth.

Anyone?

My dogs and cats have always gotten along in the past. We have one now, Eddie that is old and an old dog pro. I noticed he and Victor were playing on the rug the other night and thought even at 16 0r 17 i have forgotten how old the cat really is he still plays.
victor was not raised with cats the first 5 mths. I think if eddie would have run in the beginning Vic would have loved a chase but eddie knows better. In the past we have had a stray cat now and then show up and work itself into the web of our home with the dogs. They either kept a polite distance, or rolled on the floor for attention right in front of the dog. It really depends on how the cat reacts. Some dogs are right off cat killers too, so you have to be very careful in the introduction, let them take it slow and monitor until you are sure everyone is safe, then let time do it's work.

I have 3 dogs and a cat, and they do not need to be together since birth. I just recently adopted a 3 or 4 year old German Shepherd dog from a pound who formerly lived outside, and she gets along great with my cat, and is fine with the cats at Pets Mart, neighbors cats, ect.
It depends on socialization, training, experiance, and prey drive/temperment.
In fact, I'd suggest adopting an older dog from a rescue or shelter that is already known to get along with cats before I'd suggesting getting a puppy to anyone.
I was told by a trainer that a dog can be raised and never see a cat before in its life can learn (or be taught) to coexist with cats just fine.

I've had both cats and dogs live harmoniously together my entire life. That's a crock that they need brought up from birth. If they don't get along at first, they will figure it out. I work with them to help them acclimate, though. Don't really know what I do, but whatever it is, it works. There's probably a book out there to help how or stuff on the internet to help teach you what you can do to acclimate them if you have trouble.

I have two older cats and a 1yr old Beagle.

The beagle LOVES the cats and thinks she can play with them. The cates HATE her. They beat her up, but know not to go as far as actually hurting her.

I have three cats and 1 dog, had all the cats before we got our puppy. pretty much the same situation as JennSLK... dog LOVES the cats, they HATE her. They do tollerate eachother, it's usually not a problem unless the dog decides to try and " play" with one of them, she might get swatted a couple of times but nothing serious.
I've own cats and dogs at the same time all my life and my experience is that it works better to first have the dog and then get a kitten. I'm by no means saying that's how it works for everyone but that's how it's always been for us. All cats and dogs have always tollerated eachother but in the situations where we had the dog first and then got a kitten they got along better (as far as sleeping on the same bed etc.) than the other way around.

At first when we got Penny I thought she'd never get along with the cats but now that we've had her for a year things have gotten better and they live in peace (most of the time)

I have two cats and a dog. None of them have been together since birth, and they all get along quite well. I think it depends on the temperament of the individual animals, as well as some time and patience.

I have 2 cats, and 3 labradors...
We had one dog, Nelson, when we first got the cats and after a short time of him chasing them and getting scratched, he soon began to like them. We then got Phoebe who we introduced to them at a very young age and she was fine with them straight away. (we would often find them in bed together). Rocky is a little bit worse, if he sees one outside he will chase them. But, inside he will walk up to them and lick them but occasionally gets a bit playful and mouths them....
i think it is better to introduce them at a young age, but it does depend on the dog and if the cat has a bit of an attitude (and will scratches the dog if it chases them) the dog will soon come round.!

I have 2 dogs and a cat. We had Hobbit before the cat and they get along fine. I also take in foster animals and so far everyone has gotten along. They do not have to be together from birth. It is all about socialization and training.
These two absolutely adore one another. They even play together!

I have 4 cats and 4 dogs..The first two cats were found by my first GSD, at 10 days old..Nice old guy brought them home to me *vbg*, I bottlefed and kept 2 (there were 3),,My other gsd at the time wanted to "eat" them, but with loads of socializing him with them, they ended up sleeping together, After those two kitties, I've brought in 4 more dogs, all them get along fine with the cats, altho the last aussie rescue I brought in, also wanted to 'eat' them, after a few attitude adjustments, he now sleeps with them.

I took in a litter of 6 kittens, 10 days old last year, and my female aussie, and male gsd "mothered" them,,the other two dogs have been fine with them as well, and I kept another two out of that litter..Nope everybody sleeps together here, however, if my dogs see a cat outside, you can bet they'd want to "kill" it.

I have two dogs and a cat. I had Rosco(my dog) first, then we adopted Lucas(my cat), and Luc was scared to death of Rosco, he had never seen a dog before, it took about 2 weeks for Lucas to feel comfortable around Rosco. Lucas stayed in the bedroom w/the door shut for the first week to let him get acclimated, and then I started feeding them on opposite sides of the door, but with the door cracked open so they could see one another, and then after about a week of that, Lucas started coming out more and more and now the two of them are bestfriends.

That was 2 years ago, and then last year we got Zander, our puppy, and Lucas was so used to being around Rosco that he was fine with Zander. I don't think Lucas likes Zander too much, but he tolerates him. Zander used to chase him and terrorize him, but he finally laid off and Zander pretty much ignores Lucas now. Lucas and Rosco, on the other hand, are always curled up together snuggling and giving each other kisses. I guess it depends upon the cat and the dog.

My cats and dogs get along wonderfully. One of my cats in particular adores my dogs, and stops them to give them kisses every time he sees them.

I have 2 cats along with Casey and they get along fine. We already had Casey before we got the cats and gently introduced them together. Casey doesn't chase them and the cats love her. This morning we went for a walk to the park and one cat followed us all around the park. When we come in from a walk if the cat is there he runs straight up to Casey to say Hi and ignores me .
Also the other day a friend brought their small dog round and it went for our other cat who replied by lashing out, Casey was in the room at the same time and charged the little dog to protect the cat.

They all get along fine and sleep by the fire together, as long as you introduce them carefully it should be fine.

2 cats and 1 dog here! But I am moving on sunday, so it will ALL change. Moving to my parents, they have 2 cats. I am taking one cat, and my bf is taking another

So will be 3 cats and 1 dog!!

No problems, ever.

I think it is only a problem if you have a dog that likes to EAT cats!

I have 4 dogs and 3 cats. They all came along at different times. The most important thing is that the cats have a safe place they can go away from the dogs. Cats take their time getting to know dogs. I don't think it matters what age either is when they come into a home.
