I was looking into it until I checked out complaints against them on the web.
They're out of California and named Animal Behavior College.

I asked about them awhile ago- I found a trainer in this area certified through them. I'm going to try to find my post so you can read the responses.

ETA- found it! The pm someone sent me suggested I contact someone who had an experience with a trainer certified throught ABC. I never got a reply to the PM I sent that person, tho.

There have been several posts here about ABC.

Personally, I have a good friend who went through their program and I think he's a very good trainer. I think a lot of it depends on who your "mentor" is, though; I had another friend who had a pretty bad experience with ABC because she had a bad mentor and I think she had to switch halfway through. I think there are some people on this board who are ABC certified.

You can also look into Karen Pryor Academy, I've heard a lot of good things from that one as well (and I know there are members here who have completed that).

im ABC certified.
the program itself was very much a "take what you get" kind of thing. mentor plays a huge part. a good mentor is definatly key.

they do promote positive reinforcment, ect..
how to use corrective tools (ie choke chains) correctly ect.

but having a good mentor makes a huge difference, i whent through 3 before i found someone i could be around, 1 just didnt care, 1 was overly forcefull and had aparently taken to the "cesar milan" method, and the 3rd was just plain mean, he promoted chokes, show collars ect to EVERYONE...

it was tough to fund someone i got along with and felt corretnly embodied what i throught a trainer and mentor should be...

Thanx to all for your input.

I think I will keep looking for a better fit. Study every style I can get my hands on.
