I was thrilled when Rufus won too, Tempura (love your clever name, by the way - I'm partial to puns :D )

I've always said that if I ever have another small dog I want a Bull Terrier.
Bull terriers are not that small. They can reach 80 pounds. Were you talking about a mini?

For someone who owns 2 gigantic Filas and has a GSD/Wolf as the small dog of the house - a Bull terrier is small. ;) :p

But if you want something even remotely capable of thinking for itself, don't get one.
This struck me as a bit funny, because the main reason people think they are stupid is because that's *exactly* what they do- they think for themselves. Not a good breed for anyone without a modicum of patience or creativity- you need to make these guys think that what you want them to do is THEIR idea.

I really liked this site in terms of explaining the intelligence and trainability of the bull terrier. This person breeds, shows and trains bullies in agility and obedience (with high levels of success)

Perla - i thought your dog was a pit bull terrier, not a bull terrier? (which are two different and seperate breeds)

"bullie" is the term for a bull terrier.

"amstaff" - is the term for american staffordshire terrier

"staffie" is the term for staffordshire terriers...

"pit" or "pibble" is the terms of endearment for pit bulls.

"Bullies" CAN be a general term for the bull terrier family... but in this thread it is for the specific bull terrier breed.

You are breeding him? Why do you want to? Just curious.

They - bull terrier, american pit bull terrier, staffordshire terrier, american staffordshire terrier, miniature bull terrier etc - are all cousins at best. Probably the closest in relations are staffordshire terriers and american pit bull terriers. It can get confusing...

and i keep thinking I am forgetting a breed? Grrr..

But to tell u the true is my boyfriend that wants to breed him Im not to sure a bout the idea. The mom oner is the one that is going to take care of everything but I'm not tu sure about it. Any ways his only 11 1/2 months he is still a baby so I dint think about it that much for now

Perla there is a lot more that goes into health testing than just "blood and temperament".
I'm looking at breeding someday and the minimum health tests I would have cleared are OFA hips and elbows, thyroid, heart monitored, and eyes cleared. A total health evaluation cannot be done simply by your veterinarian. you have to go through organizations like the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (www.offa.org) or something similar.

There are some great threads in the breeding forum that I would recommend reading, particularly the stickys (look at Pitbulliest's "Responsible Breeder Checklist... As a breeder, will you be able to clear that checklist?)

Since you seem to have a difficult time even identifying your breed, I would personally hold off on breeding for a LONG time and do a lot of research. It's not a decision to take lightly.
