I dunno I must of not been paying much attention. I didn't see the Christianity to it? A bunch of kids that went to another world by going in a closet? Plus I doubt it they could make kids religious books in a public school? Maybe we got the non-christian verison?

I saw the cartoon versions as a kid and I loved them. I'm a Christian and I didn't think there was anything religious about it at all either. (I haven't seen the movie yet.) But I have heard that Aslan is supposed to represent Christ. Anybody else know the Christian themes in it? I know C.S. Lewis was a Christian and I've read most of his non-fiction books - but I think Narnia scared me when I was a kid!

I wish I could, maybe when it comes out on video. My husband doesn't find it interesting and I don't have a babysitter and I SERIOUSLY doubt my almost 2 year old daughter would sit through a movie like that :(. Oh well, I'll just rent it one night while my hubby is working and watch it, and save myself some money. Is it really long?

I saw it this weekend, it was a great movie. Great special effects. I'm not religious and found the movie very enjoying. :)

It is actually what's called an alagory (geeze hope I spelled that right:eek: ) and is supposed to have direct parallels to the bible. Ex. Aslan is God/ Jesus, white witch is satan, ect. There are religious overtones throughout all the books. (Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve for one) Esp. in the last battle where the ape and ass are the anti-christ who decieve all of the animals who haven't seen aslan ever so don't know what to look for in him. Lucy is supposed to represent Mary who sat at Jesus's feet, and later saw him when he rose from the dead and listened to him and just wholeheartedly believed no matter what that Jesus was good and ,(I think) Edmund plays Judas when he betrays his family and Aslan by going to the white witch with their whereabouts. That's the basic gist anywho. I LOVED the movie and felt I could see it over and over and over. I loved the cartoon version as a little kid too. The books, religious overtones or not, are phenomenal and C.S. Lewis was a genius. Another aside, he was good friends with J.R.R. Tolkien which is why if you read their books they have similar tones, and the maps in the books look similar.

I braved the local theater for it a few hours ago and loved it. It really did the book justice... Definitely worth a trip to the theater. (Which I hate!)
