How long are they good for? I can't imagine it's as long as regular passports but I need to get Hannah a passport. We got her photos done yesterday and I have the paperwork all filled out now we just have to take her in.

So does anyone know how long passports are good for for young children? and also are they a little more lenient on the passport photo with such young children?

It's usually 5 years with a kids passport.

I think they are a bit more lenient, I seem to remember you are allowed to hold a child, but don't quote me on that.

I had a passport ever since I was really little (perhaps 2)

Usually the picture lasting time is around 5 years, (It's 10 for adults I believe)
and they were always really lenient about my picture lol you always kind of look like your picture, just older.

It's 5 years for everyone up here. Not sure about the states. They're a bit more lenient about the picture but as long as they retain the same traits you're good.

Had to get one for my son for our trip back in January. He was 11 months old when we applied and his picture HAS to be updated in 2 years from time of passport issue. This was in Canada, not sure about the USA.

I should add that i was 10/11 when i got my passport as a kid, younger might have different guidelines because they're changing so much.

thank you.

hopefully they are lenient with the picture lol because trying to get Hannah to pose JUST right with no smile was going to be impossible lol. Chin up = look all the way up to the sky to Hannah. chin down means chin all the way down lol. FREEZE means pose and then freeze lol. so yeah she's got this crazy bucktooth half smile going on and she looks like she has a mullet LOL. She looks like a little hillbilly baby HAHA

I got one when I was around 11, I think, and it expired when I turned 16. If I remember correctly. Maybe it was 18?

They aren't particular about the pictures. SHannon was just barely 2 when she got hers and though it has to be updated in 5 years, the pic is awful. She is screaming her head off in it and her face is bright red with her mouth open - they accepted it.
