I know that this is a dog forum.. but

My wife is going to go through some handgun training this weekend. My brother in law is a cop and he gives the classes every so often. Being that she already knows how to shoot and has experience, I know she won't have any problems. She has to have some kind of official training to apply for her Concealed weapons permit...

I am thinking about giving her my Glock 23, and buying myself and H&K USP 45. Either that or getting her the USPc 45.

Anyone here a gun person? If so what do you have?

I know absolutely nothing about guns, so forgive me if I don't say the names right. My hubby grew up around guns and we have two in the house: a small .22 rifle for simple target shooting, and a pistol-grip shotgun for home defense. Hubby would also like a handgun someday and gun for deer hunting, but that's pretty low on our priorities list.

My husband has been after me to take the concealed weapons classes for a long time. There is another one coming up soon, so I did sign up for it.

I have been around guns all my life, and I was taught to respect them. So, being to worry wart I am........I am afraid the gun will go off while carrying it. I really don't want a gun in my purse or attached to me while doing various activities. I mean hubby sticks his in his pants pointing toward his butt crack......I just couldn't do that. Lol I mean if it did go off...Where would his butt end up? He assures me there is no possible way for the things I think about, to really happen. But I'm not so sure.

I like the idea for protection though.

My boyfriend has lots of guns. My favorite hand guns to shoot are 9mm and the 45. But I prefer shooting rifles. I wouldn't mind getting a CHL though just to have it.

Never owned a hand gun but I own a 30.06 and a 10 gauge shotgun and a 22 rifle.
I hunt and I use my dogs for bird hunting.

Have two .22 six-shots that I got from my grandfather. Not sure what make they are (the model/numbers have long been rubbed from the surface).

Also have a .22 rifle that I enjoy taking out every now and then. Not good for much other than target shooting but I'd rather that than a bat if I were being attacked.

My mom has a Walther PPK (she thought it was cute and liked that James Bond uses it). My dad has a Colt .45, and three 9mm (not sure of the makes. I think one is a Glock, not sure of the other two).

When I can I plan on buying a Glock .45. They seemed like very nice weapons in the magazine I read. At least I think it was a Glock .45 I was reading about (because it was the first large caliber that Glock had made or something along those lines).

Yeah Glock makes 3 models in a .45. GLOCK 21, GLOCK 30, & GLOCK 36

I like the 30 because it is a smaller compact model that's easier to conceal.

Right now I don't have any rifles or shotguns, but I'm thinking about buying a 30-06 for deer season this fall..

We have a couple of Glocks, ours are .40 caliber though.
The glock 22 model.

blue is planning on taking over Alaska, if you didn't already know.

I don't own one, but I'm partial to my friend's Rock Island Colt .45. I think it's what I'd buy if I ever do get a handgun.

A bloodless coup is my plan.

I have had several different handguns and have found the same thing with them all. I dont like em lol. I havent seen anything that I can do with a pistol that I cant do better with a rifle, shotgun or knife. I currently have .44mag Taurus, .45 Witness and .22 Ruger target that serve no purpose other than collecting dust and making the gun owner stats go up a bit to anger Sarah Brady.

nice semi pics :) my hubby would really appreciate them. i grew up hunting, but only used a .12 gauge, .22 and 30-06 he, on the other hand, was a Gunner's Mate in the Navy so he's been around, and is very farmiliar with, BIG GUNS! he could tell you alot about them. all of our weapons are still in s.c. unfortunately...can't transport them in an 18 wheeler...it's considered a concealed weapon :( oh well. he wants an M1 Garand military rifle...as well as a few other choice weapons....Glock 9mm, over/under, bolt actions and double barrel shotguns as well as a Peace Maker pistol. and those are just the one's i can remember that he wants...LOL :)

Nice collection Blue.. My wife has never been much on guns in the house, so I've never felt the need to get into them as much as I would like to...

Have you shot any of the H&K USP line?

my brother (former cop) has been trying to get me to buy a Glock..something or another..for a couple years now. he's thinking it's a great 'girl's gun'. everyone around here has rifles. I personally can shoot you with a bow...lol...yes, better have time to grab those arrows! guess to please my brother I will look into the Glock he has in mind. I love to shoot. it's one of the very few things I'm actually good at. go figure...no coordination, but an eye for a target. :) :)

Try running the balistics on an arrow. Delightfully lethal, virtually silent, yet untraceable truly a neglected art form.

My husband wants us both to take the gun safety training course and have one for home protection. I grew up with my dad having hunting rifles and a gun he had for awhile for target shooting. I really don't like guns, but know this world we live in is not getting better.

I gather from the postings, that the Glock is the one we should look into. Do you all agree?

archery rules. it's something I've always loved. probably goes back to some Robin Hood movie I saw at the age of 10 or so. LOL I feel comfortable with my bow...it somehow just seems natural. :)
