I was curious if anybody else did the Frontline trick.. I know a few other members on different boards and a few friends do it.

This is a trick learned from my Vet.... I was under the impression everybody else did it.

We were having a discussion on the prices of Frontline Plus and why the larger doses arent much more expensive than the smaller doses. He showed me a trick. Buy the big dose for big dog that has three doses or vials in it. Each vial of the largest dose has about 4 small dog doses in it. You can pierce the top with a needle and squeeze out 1/4 of it on a small dog. That way you get 12 doses out of the three pack box. For a fraction of the cost.

The big box is about 50 dollars here and the small dog box is 40 dollars. See the key here. I now get 12 doses for 50 dollars rather than 3 doses for 40 dollars. I pick my Frontline up at my local feed store and also pick up a syringe to pull out the exact doses. There are lines on the vials. The small dog vial has medicine in it to the first line (up to 20 lb dog). The next size dog vial has medicine to the second line. The next size has medicine in it to the 3rd line and the largest dose has medicine in it to the 4 th line. :)

If you use the spray, just fluff up the fur at the end of thier back near the tail and apply there, works as effectively as spraying all over and doesn't cost to much doing it this way :D

I've always divided one vials of the small Frontline (up to 20 lbs) between Kassie and Boomer. Both their weight combine is only 8 or 9 pounds and I never felt safe putting a full dose on them.

Ok, this is what I thought you meant, but I wasn't sure.

I've started trying to do this, but the dividing up part is killing me. All my syringes are in mL or tsp and the packaging on the Frontline is in ounces. That's a conversion nightmare right there!

Here is an easy method you can use. Take the syringe and pull out all of the liquid from 1 applicator... see what line that measures up on your syringe and divide it up by 4 and your set :)

Yes, I just have to have the money to afford two one-dose packets now. I have two dogs that I dose out of one of the red label sizes.
