Please give me some examples of who you are talking about when you say crunk music from the south...

I dont like every rapper from the south, but you can NOT say they are all like that...

Like east coast and west coast dont have rappers that just sing about the bling
Ok maybe you missunderstood me... I didn't say that ALL south music is crunk. As a matter of fact there are many artists from the south that I like.. For instance OutKast, Scarface, and Eightball & MJG (actually considered Crunk). All I'm saying is that it seems like most of the untalented, no skill having artists released lately are rhyming about chains and grills... and it's is coming from the South.

Here is my list of those that I don't particularly like..

Lil Wayne
Lil’ Jon
Pitbull
Trillville
Youngbloodz
Ying Yang Twinz
Lil Scrappy...
Paul Wall
D4L

Ok... your right, there are other artists that aren't from the south doing the same thing, but you tell me where the most concentration of them is?

I also said "Commercial Rap" which includes everywhere on the map. 50 cent is a notable artist who's style is horrible, skills are next to none, and loves to talk about his cars and ice. And he is from the NY. In my opinion he doesn't bring much to the hip-hop scene..nothing positive at least.

And yes.. Kanye is, without a doubt, one of the most talented artists/producers.

ok, I understand what your saying now :p I'm not not up to date with the "lingo" :D actually I dont like these either and I am going to add to your list
Lil Wayne
Lil’ Jon
Pitbull
Trillville
Youngbloodz
Ying Yang Twinz
Lil Scrappy...
Paul Wall
D4L
Juvenile
Big Tymers

and I love OutKast, Scarface, and Eightball & MJG and Trick, Cee-lo, and your right most comes from the south, and being from the south, it makes me sick, that all they can come up in their songs is bling and 20's....

I was just confuzzled...I do agree with you now that I know what "crunk" is...LOL

RODL @ Paul Wall I *hate* him!!!

Always advertising his grillz in his videos! ROFL

I don't realy like Lil'John though, although when Dave Chapelle makes fun of him it is entertaining. ROFL

Outkast- when they came out in '95? they were "hard". Now their singing about Roses, and people smelling like poo or whatever. I'm not really into their new stuff but their old stuff was alright.

And as for 50 cent... I won't even get in deep with him, BUT:

Whoever brags about being a vicitim is not someone I want to listen to IMO

And if you have to *pay* reputable rappers, well USED to be reputable rappers like Mobb Deep to "side" with you.... *pukes*

I hate 50.... I hate him.....

Well Dizzy...

I understand where you're coming from when you say "popping caps and bling."

That's why I don't like crunk music from the south. And unfortunately this is what most commercial rap is all about these days. It's been a decline in this genre for a long time.

On the other hand, underground hip-hop is a different story (for the most part). I listen to Hip-hop for the beats and the talent, and most music that has either one of these two in it, doesn't have things about bling and killing people in it.

Artists like, Jurassic 5, Little Brother, The Roots, Talib Kwelli, etc are true to real hip-hop. It's not about making money and buying cars..

By the way, have you heard of the group Gnarls Barkely? They are big in the UK I hear.. It's a blend of hip-hop, soul, pop, you name it...
I just want to say that I love Gnarls Barkely. :)

He's become very popular here. He gets a lot of play on our alternative station.

Mobb Deep has gone off to lala land with everything that they have been releasing lately. I just don't know where these boys went wrong..
How do you go from 'Infamous' to these club hits that they are dropping today?????

That's good to hear.. Dangermouse and Cee-Lo, aka Gnarls Barkley have created a whole new Genre with the release of St. Elsewhere.

I haven't heard an album like this one, with such a huge mixture of music, since D'Angelo's Brown Sugar in '95.

It's something that you will either love or hate.

Oh I can't even remember the name, something about "Havin' a party", I heard that song on muchmusic and couldn't believe it... Of course it was a feature with 50...

The hook was horrible. Sounded like Chamber music,

Heyyyy, (GGGGGG G-UNit), go ahead and have a party if you want to,
(GGGGGG-GGGGGG G-UNit)
Na na na na na, i'm poppin' on, M.O.B.B!
Heyyyy, (GGGGGG G-UNit), go ahead and touch your body like you want to,
(GGGGGG-GGGGGG G-UNit)
Na na na na na, i'm poppin' on, M.O.B.B!
Heyyyy..

spit one verse, my whole cribs coughed up
Ma i got a fetish, ****in' in them porsche trucks
Curtis got one so when i finished i tossed her
y'all in to wifin', we ??could throw?? wife in
only **** with bitches that got their liquor license
shot high prices, shook all vices
imfamous nigga, got the game in a vice grip
10 hundred K, but the flow, is priceless

Quite obviously - I think it is crap :D

My gran can string a tune together and sing more clearly than half those "rappers".

And I listen to MOST genres of music, of course excepting rap, elevator jazz and that crap pop r and b stuff

I am yet to hear a rapper singing about unity, love, and saving the world, or even anything other than his hot bitches and his bling, or how he "put a bullet" in someone...

If there is some out there, I would be keen to hear it.
I put tupacs lyrics to his song "keep ya head up" earlier in this thread. Go read it, because its all about helping women, single mothers, and the poor.

Read the lyrics to his song "baby dont cry". Thats why I like pac so much is because he was "hard", but he wasnt afraid to show his soft side...
