I talked to some people that work within the animal organizations in Louisville to ask if any of them have ever heard of MR. They confirmed that MR is the cop that got busted that the orginal poster that started all this posted. They said that this info is well known within the animal community around Louisville.

For those of you who are reading these threads please, please do not support Martin Richling.

He is was trained at Petsmart, his training methods are abusive and detrimental.

He has lied numerous times here. He used 3 different usernames to make himself look good. He told us that he is still a cop and that he had to go out on patrol with his dog, when in fact he resigned as a police officer in 1996, shortly after he was caught taking money from women and telling them that he was going to use the money to keep their sons out of prison.

So please do not use this man. He is only in it for the money and doesn't give a crap about you or your dog.

The End

Sorry for posting another forum link, did not mean to offend the moderator. I think it is important if there is someone like MR or anyone training dogs in the way MR is apparently training, that is our duty as dog lovers to spread the word, especially if it is to people in the town that MR is training.

You didn't offend me. It's just against forum rules. We don't like it when people come here and bring issues from other forums and posting links from the other forums counts. I know it's the same issues but there's not need to keep it going. It's just going to escalate and nothing will get resolved. That forum already knows about it so the word has been spread.

I guess my last question for the "trainer" would be this: The way you describe your dogs sounds to me like you don't want a canine but a robot. If you marched your dog to a cliff and gave the order to jump-your dog would most likely jump. Mine would find a better way down and arrive at the bottom without injury. Which one would be able to carry on the mission?

hmm, i don't know if he's still here answering questions. but figured this might make an interesting Q.

My dog is dog aggressive when he is on lead. Off lead he is just dominant.
He can control himself untill he gets about 10 metres away from another dog out of a yard then starts pulling, whining, lunging at it.
How would YOU suggest I stop this behaviour?

Exactly. Excellent case in point.

MR has been banned along with his drummed up followers who were one in the same as he, as was discovered by a moderator. This is a direct violation of forum rules. Not only that, but his trolling, baiting and general disruption of the forum had to come to an end.

How tragic.

I personally believe is worthwhile to mention that his "Koehler Method of Guard Dog Training" was named Best Dog Book for the Year of 1967 by the Dog Writers’ Association of America. This Method of Dog Training has been praised, championed, vilified and in some cases damned which what has happened here on Chazzzzzzz regarding Martin Richling.

This doesn't necessarily pertain to me personally, but I think it should be mentioned.
I don't want to keep bringing this back up, but this is funny! LOL! We're not living in 1967. We're in the 21st century now. Change happens.

Since my question was never answered (about a dog acting aggressively and attacking), and I know a few folks were looking to hear the answer, I did a little searching and found the answer, in his own words.

Whatever you do to the dog, it must be done PHYSICALLY and it must OVERWHELM the dog completely. The dog must be totally afraid to ever unjustifiably bite you again. The dog must be permanently corrected from its desire to bite you: its desire to bite you for no justifiable reason must be eradicated from its thinking.

If you accomplish this, you will never have an unwarranted aggressive dog again. If you fail at this, your dog will think it can bite you anytime it so desires.

The technique and equipment you use to correct the dog physically must bring severe pain to the dog WITHOUT causing any broken bones or any injuries at all. It must NOT have to see the vet when you are done. But it should be yelping for a good minute or two!

Simply Stunning. Not that I need to reiterate the fact that the guy is a total schmuck, I just wanted to share the answer to the question I had asked previously....

No, I think that's pretty obvious to any humane, thinking person. I wonder if he would stop invading all these forums if someone made him yelp for at least a good minute or two. Frankly, when I read that statement about not causing and visible injury, all I could think of was a dysfunctional, testosterone pumped, drunken wife batterer.
