Any advice?-James wellbeloved

I just wondered if anyone could give any advice on the food I'm feeding Casey. Right now she is on the Lamb and rice james wellbeloved but I've just found out there is a new variety called lamb and vegetable which I'd really love to switch too. The only problem is convincing my Mum even though I will be paying for it as the new food comes in a 10kg bag and is as expensive as the 15kg lamb and rice. And well as long as I live under this roof she will always have some control over my actions and believe me I would move out but I have Casey to think of. So what do you think?


James Wellbeloved 15kg Adult Lamb and Rice.

This is a hypoallergenic containing no artificial flavours, additives or preservatives. Free from Dairy and wheat products. This can help with skin and stomach problems. Ideal for all dogs after the age of 14 months.

i used to feed james wellbeloved. i have a big bag of fish flavour kibble (15kg) that i want to get rid of as i have just moved to a raw diet. where in britian are you sweet? and i dont think there is alot of difference between the flavours to be honest. i think variety is key to a balanced diet but dont go out of your way to buy a more expensive food. if you want to add veg buy some pulp it and add to his dinner! and maby chicken pieces raw or cooked lol

I'd love to switch to raw but can't whilst I live with my parents as they wont allow me to. I was thinking about switiching to the lamb and vegetable because it has no rice in it. Do you feed raw then?

Oh and I'm in South Yorkshire .

There are actually some pretty big differences in the ingredients. I would definitely prefer the second one because it's grain free and also because carrot, tomato, and chicory root are very healthy. The only thing that's not great IMO is that 21% protein is a little low. That's actually the lowest protein grain free food I've ever seen.

I wish I had some advice on how to convince your mom. Hopefully someone else will have some ideas on that!!

i have switched to raw and my mum wasnt happy to find that in the freezer was filled and no room for ours hahaha. i cant buy in bulk anymore hehe which is cheeper!

there are differences yeah in the food but variety is key as well, maby switch to that back then swap back and then to the veg one again. it makes it less expensive for you and healthyer for the dog. i think so anyway.
its a shame your so far away i could give you my sack of 15kg fish flavour for £20. not touched it at all!

also if your worried about him not getting enough protein add a good quality canned food or cooked chicken or something. i wouldnt recomend added raw to the same meal as it can cause digestion problems .

Luvntzus, I can get around that problem I think, I'll figure it out, I'm just glad they brought out the second one. Too bad we can't get all the 'better' foods like in America.

Hedwig, lol I bet your mum wondered what was going on hehe. I suggested me buying a second hand freezer and putting it in the freezer but she said no. Where do you get your meat from? Do you have any other dogs in your family/friends who could take the food if you aren't going to use it? Oh and last question what canned food would you suggest?

i also suggested this but i dont think we can afford to run another freezer. i buy from the butchers or farms. free range meat or turning meat in the supermarket, in other words cheap meat going out of date. look for best offers.

and i read something about dead dogs cats and animal cancers abceses and aborted baby animals and scaps of animal fur and hoofs are all put into dog food kibble and biscuits. many dogs and cats put down cooked with their flea collars on and in the green bin bags they came in. so i really do think you should cook your own meat and add it. dip it in natural yogert to replace the jelly and grvy in tinned food. a little though.

if you must, natures menu is the best i think but it has cereals in it. pets pantry/hi life is good as it has no cereals but it has lower meats in it.

natures menu is 60% meat and hi life is 26%.
look for highist % in meat and NO cereals or preservatives as you can! but i do recommend cooked meat

hedwig- I agree that rotating foods is important. I think the protein source is the most important thing to vary.

Kase- I know, it's a real shame how few good food choices there are in the UK. The first time I tried to help someone find a good UK food I was SHOCKED at the poor food choices there are over there! Luckily some holistic foods are starting to be more available internationally. I don't know how feasible this would be for you, but here are some links:

Luvntzus, its ridiculous isn't it! Thanks for the links though . I really wanted to get the Eagle pack from down South but yet again my Mum said no . I finish my college course in a year and I'll be moving out then I can buy any food I want or switch to raw.

yeah some of them. he has british giants, flemish giants n flancer roose are they? the last ones are huge. one kicked me in the chest when i was carrying him. just put him away and kicked me.
