Man Allegedly Takes Back Dog From Clinic
September 26, 2006 10:12 PM EDT

FARGO, N.D. - A man was in custody in Fargo after allegedly taking his pit bull from a veterinary clinic in St. Cloud, Minn., where it was scheduled to be euthanized.

Robert Herrington, 19, from the St. Cloud area, took the dog Aug. 31, said John Sanner, sheriff in Minnesota's Stearns County. Authorities had taken the dog earlier after it had bitten two people.

Police said Herrington got the dog out of the clinic by taking it through a rear fire exit, the St. Cloud Times reported.

Herrington, who is wanted on several Stearns County warrants, was arrested in Fargo on Monday on several charges, including passing bad checks and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Police took the pit bull to a vet clinic, and Stearns County officials have asked that it be euthanized.

The Stearns County attorney's office will decide whether to extradite Herrington to St. Cloud, Sanner said.

Very true, he's a little late in showing concern for his dog. If he truly cared for it he wouldn't have allowed it to bite anyone in the first place, let alone two people. And in the end its the dog that suffers from an owner's stupidity. Because of owners like him, life gets harder for the responsible pit bull owners.

I'd do it too, but of course, my babies wouldn't be in such a predicament in the first place... but if they were ever in a place ready to be killed, I'd steal them back, and they'd never find them... EVER...I'd bleach their coats lol...

She just said she wouldn't be in such a predicament.

but if her dogs were going to be killed she would steal them. I would take my dog away too. of course I am confident Teddy will never bite anyone unless provoked of course and then I will fight my a$$ of for him.

But yes this owner in this story is a terrible owner and doesn't deserve the dog at all. it was certainly too late to start caring.

Hey Bob... how unfair. Herrington needs that dog to guard his stash! Ha! Sorry, I couldn't resist. On a more serious note, that's another debate for me, kids owning Pitbulls.
