Anyone know if it's okay to feed whole frozen smelt? Small fish.
Fish is a great addition to a raw diet. If you can get your hands on some Salmon or Mackerel I highly recommend that as well.
As was mentioned on a recent thread, be certain any raw salmon is frozen for at least two weeks to kill the parasites that cause salmon sickness. Your salmon may or may not have it, but it's best to be safe.
I gave her the smelts - she didn't eat them. Will try them again at the beginning of a meal just in case she wasn't very hungry. I'm aware of the salmon parasite - she receives only frozen pacific northwest salmon. Just thought I'd try something different.
My dog won't eat any fish unless it's frozen. She will eat the head and tail, and just leave the rest behind. Try leaving the smelts frozen if you are having trouble too.
