The other day, I was outside playing fetch with Charlie. This car pulled in with a red female ACD in the back seat. (I guess the guy noticed that Charlie was also an ACD). He was asking if my dog was male or female, and if he was fixed. He says he was looking for a male purebred ACD (red or blue) to breed to his female. I told him that Charlie was neutered, I didn't want to breed him. He is my companion and I want him to live a long and healthy life.

This guy isn't a responsible breeder seeing that he will breed his female to any male ACD he finds!

Has this ever happened to anyone else? This is the second time someone has asked to use Charlie for breeding! (The first dog was a mutt, and the guy who owned it already had about 4 or 5 other dogs, plus 4 children running around, and all his dogs were tied outside all the time they are all female, and none are fixed!)

Yeah, I had a guy ask me why I would "do that to such a handsome dog" I guess he meant that as a compliment. I calmly told him there were enough handsome dogs in the world already!

i am by no means sticking up for this guy but some just seem to not know about responsiable breeding and what they shopuld do if they plan to breed, i wish there was more we could do to eduicate them, his bitch may be a great dog, and he just needs to be pointed in the correct direction, and she may be a bad example of the breed, did you get more info from him?

Humm you can usually tell what a person is like its a shame he didn't stick around, maybe you could of told him to go and show his dog first and how to go about it all if she passed health and conformation tests

it happens to me a lot with my pit mix. for some reason pit mixes with red noses are "special." or "rare." which i find funny because there are tons of red nose pit bulls in the various shelters i've been in.

fortunately for mojo he's neutered... and quite happy that way too.

Your dog is very handsome!:) There are a lot of pits in shelters, I wish people would respect the breed more, and do their reseach before owning one... They have such a bad rep:(

I get that from people who automatically assume since I have a female and male of the same breed that I MUST be breeding them. Thank goodness I don’t get it too often, I think I’d start getting a bit snippier to those if it was.

Too many people get into breeding for the wrong reasons. I find that reputable breeders are more then happy to share their breeding programs when asked of even when it’s not asked because of the pride they have and the hard work that goes in their dogs. One I’ll use as an example of good breeding, hope this person wont mind me using her as an example, is RedyreRottweilers.

With BYB it’s common to get a rude response and a “it’s none of your business” reply when asked. A very BIG red flag!

If this person is just driving around looking for dogs to breed his female too then I would say that is pretty much unethical breeding with a humungo red BYB flag.

Hah.

The offers I have gotten from people who have a "huge male Rockwilder" to breed to my bitches.

I usually start off by asking about health testing. It becomes a one sided conversation really fast....

I know what you mean. I had someone tell me the other day that I should get a male mini schnauzer to breed with Kenzy. I was like nope. I am not a breeder nor will I want to breed my dogs. they kept pushing the issue, finally I was just like why should I breed? Give me a good reason other than " money" which isn't a real reason at all. They just looked at me and didn't say another word about it. People are soo ignorant. They think that breeding is having two dogs mate and that is it. Stupidity is annoying.

My Goodness, someone else noticed that! How can you own a breed of dog and not even know how to pronounce the name????

So many people have said that to me..." I have a Rockwilder" and I say really? What kind of dog is that? OH you mean ROTTWEILER.

When I had my rottie/dobe mix a man with 4 pit bulls stoped me and asked if I was interested in breeding her to one of his pits. I stoped passing his house when I took my dog for a walk, because he would come out and try to talk me into breeding.

I just wanted to say that those Poodles are the most impeccably groomed dogs I have seen in ages. They look beautiful. And it is nice to see a true red---not just a "dark apricot"! Do you groom them yourself? If so, you are a true artist!!!!!!

No one has ever asked me about breeding Lilly. She's a papillon and most people don't know what the heck they are let alone have one themself that they want to breed.

I love the look of Papillons. If i ever get a "small" dog (meaning less than Mojo's 40) then I'd love to have a Papillon. But my bf has his heart set on getting a well-bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel... SO that's what I will probably end up getting.

But I'd still love to own a Papillon. :)

I've seemed to notice a trend where people that like papillon seem to always like CKC's. Funny.
