This was on another forum, thought it might make for an interesting discussion. I was asked to cross post. You need to watch both videos to get a feel for this. I wish I knew more about what led up to it and what happened after. Anyone hear anything about this?

I watched this video and In the video you can clearly see the dog was NOT acting aggressively to the officers. She is tied to a truck they try to catch her on a catch pole
and she keeps trying to get away from the catch pole you can tell she is scared. Than the officer stops trying to get her and she sits and
lays down they wait a bit. Than use the catch pole again this time getting her on it. She tries to fight the pole than calms down and the officer SHOOTS HER
BUT He doesn't kill her instantly and she lays there in pain WAGGING HER TAIL and he shoots her again!!!! This is brute force in the MOST EXTREME there
was no reason for this dog to be shot NONE she was not going after them aggressively. WHY DID THEY SHOOT HER???? BOTH of these
"Officers" need to lose their job and be jailed for EXTREME Animal Cruelty

It broke my heart watching this video PLEASE Call the Lagrange MO Chief of Police: (573) 655-4099 and tell them you want Charges brought agains these officers and their badges taken away they DO NOT DESERVE to be officers

If you don't see the video in this link than look to the right for the ASPCA THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP

LAGRANGE, MISSOURI:
>
> This is a 9 minute video, but it is also the most disgusting abuse and misuse of excessive force on an animal that I have ever seem. Why? The cop walked up to this dog, he petted this dog. Cops shared affection with her as he put the collar on. The dog was fine on a leash, and the dog walked away with him just as nice as you please. But, as they lead her away they had the gun drawn. They didn't want to help the dog, they just wanted to shoot her from the start.
>
> What was the need for the catch pole? And even after he got the catch pole on her she calmed down. Why in hell did he have to shoot this dog? And he isn't even good at it at such a close range, because the dog wasn't dead.
>
> She laid there wagging her tail at the cop even after he had just shot her!
>
> The cop shot her again, and her body lay lifeless.
>
> This can not go unpunished. Call them and tell them that you are outraged. Chief of Police: (573) 655-4099, and please CROSS POST this.

Your video links don't work but I found one:
YouTube - ASPCA THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP: ANIMAL CRUELTY BY THE LAGRANGE MISSOURI POLICE DEPARTMENT part 2

I'm 99% sure the dog wasn't wagging its tail, it was dead/unconcious. Things that have just been shot very often thrash around a bit, even though the brain isn't on anymore. I've seen that exact tail motion in raccoons. Something about nerves. I believe the dog died when it keeled over from the lying down position.

That said. Sick sick sick. The best I can come up with in their defense is that they were scared. And anyone who is so scared of a terrified dog on a catchpole that they feel the need to shoot it is incredibly weak and has NO PLACE in the police force. GROSS incompetence.

This is true, even dogs that want to eat you will have an involuntary tail wag when they have massive head trauma (i.e. a bullet) - it has something to do with nerves. I've seen that happen more than once.

My understanding is that they thought the dog was acting aggressively. I wonder if that was when it was laying there totally relaxed, when it was trying to run away from the man and the catch pole or when it had already been shot? I agree those men are fearful and week and a danger to humans in their position.

I was sad in the one video where they went and took the dog by a leash and the dog walked just as nice as could be with them but the one cop had his gun drawn.

This is just sad and sickening! It's also a pretty good indication of what's to come. First it's animals, next it will be humans. Actually, there are plenty of instances where it already has been. But I bet we'll be seeing more and more of this directed at not only animals, but us...unless we have a revolt against our governement's excessive control and over-use of power. In some of our previous discussions, some people here have said a government take-over would never happen. Well, newsflash...It already is happening. And here's just one tip of the ice-berg of examples. I wonder when it will happen to someone right here on Chaz. Be very afraid and keep your dogs at a low profile, especially if you have a "dangerous" breed.
