Just watched this on Animal Planet. It wasn't bad, but there were three things that got on my nerves.
1. An owner surrendered a very sick old dog with advanced pyometra, and also a cat with a large hole in his neck. They put this very sick old dog who seriously looked about a hair away from death through a spay surgery to fix the pyometra. I was surprised that this dog lived through the surgery; they even talked about her heart rate being extremely low during the surgery. She later died during the night. (The cat lived and did fine, all they had to do for him was clean the dead tissue, treat for infection, and wrap a bandage around him). I appreciate that they want to do what they can for the animals, but they should also have the intelligence to know when it is kindest to PTS, as in the case of the dog.
2. They found these two dogs in a crate covered with a black blanket in the backyard of an abandoned townhouse with no water. One was a pit bull, the other a mix (with perhaps shar pei, considering those tiny ears). They called them BOTH pit bulls, and even said they thought they might have stumbled onto dogfighting. So when does two dogs in a crate, only one being a pit bull = dogfighting?
3. They later showed the pit bull with his new family at a DOG PARK. The dog is still a pup, so of course he was still dog friendly. Dog aggression can turn on when the dog is two, or later. A pit bull can also remain dog friendly, but still jump at the chance to scrap if the situation presents itself. A dog park is no place for a pit bull. Too many variables. I HOPE the Pennsylvania SPCA educated them. I really do.
Other than that, it seemed a decent show. There were no anti-"scary" breed comments or anything like that. There are new episodes all this week, so I am going to watch them.
