I received the DNA results in the mail today and just thought I would share them :p: For a review.. this is who was tested, LOL.

First here are the definitions of the different levels if you aren't familiar with them.

Level 1: over 75% of DNA found
Level 2: 37-74% of DNA found
Level 3: 20-36% of DNA found
Level 4: 10-19% of DNA found
Level 5: less than 10% of DNA found

Okay.. ready for the results? According to the DNA test Harleigh is... dun dun dun....

Level 2 (37-74%) Labrador Retriever
Level 3 (20-36%) Mastiff
Level 4 (10-19%) Schnauzer
Level 5 (less than 10%) English Setter

:p: Here is Harleigh with her certificate now!

How awesome! At least the first two are very noticeable and make perfect sense! The last two, well those could be the relative in the closet that nobody talks about :rofl1:

The first two are believable, although her frame is awfully slender for Mastiff. I'd find Dane a lot more believable, especially with her silhouette.

But hey, at least you don't have a 90 lb. Maltese mix ;)

What a cute little schnauzer!!!! :D

I can see the 1st two as well, maybe that's a good rule to go by? The 1st two could be legit while the 2nd two are off-the-wall? Maybe not, just a thought that popped into my head.

Of course I can see the Lab, kinda the Mastiff, definately not the Schnauzer but sure as day can see Pointer. Her build is very similar to my boss' Lab/English Setter.

The lab is a safe bet. But our guesses are as 'legit' as those scam DNA tests. (at least at this level of technology and databases.. not sure if it will ever be there)

If people want to shell out the cash for a scam so be it.. but since the science isn't there.. I'd rather spend my money on other things. No more science to a company telling you than there is this board guessing the breed.

It was on sale... for $28 ;) I've always thought it would be fun to see what it came out to be (even if it wasn't accurate) and it was pretty cheap (compared to the $70+ they usually are), so I got it. :p

Just thought I would share the results

oh they are good for a laugh.. but sooo many people think because its 'DNA' its accurate. You wouldn't believe the number of people (including rescues) who were goign to spend a 100 or more believing they would find their dogs exact breed (or mixes)

That's not bad at all for a laugh.. Many of the ones I've seen advertised are in the 100+ range which seems like a waste for the accuracy of fortune telling..

A client at work just paid $160 to receive results that said her dog was primarily "mixed breed, mixed with dachshund and golden retriever". It's a small terrier looking dog.

If the Labrador was begun by Newfoundland, and springer spaniel then maybe that is where those readings came from. As to the schnauzer I am mystified.
