Well, a couple days ago because Chaz went down on me before I could post them!

Took the "tail" off the flirt pole and played with it as is.

My least favorite season, mud season.

And now, some ball...

Yay pictures! :)

I would love to hear more about Enda (and I also really like her name), the breed is striking and I'm wondering how they compare to GSDs? Where did she come from?

And of course, who doesn't love stumpy-leg photos :D

<3 Enda.

Just curious, why do they crop their ears?
Um, I hate to say that I'm not totally sure, but then again I don't think many people even have a strait answer. There's one story about it being brought over from before people "settled" into homesteads and were using dogs as boar hounds (Great Danes also have cropped ears and were originally used for the same job), or, it's also said to protect them from predators while guarding the flock, or, if you ask most people nowadays they give you the "ear infection" excuse (which I don't buy one bit as my naturally erect eared dog has by far had the most infections of any dog I've owned! and the fully floppy one, the least). I myself do prefer the cropped look MUCH more than the floppy, but ultimately chose it because I'm showing her and floppy ears don't do as well in the show ring, even for a "new" breed believe it or not!

You don't post nearly enough pictures!!!

Enda is gorgeous and Jinji looks way to incredibly happy. :D
I know, I don't even TAKE enough pictures these days, and it's killing me :yikes:!!! I wish I had more time, and I know that the more time goes on the more busy I'll get too. But, I have also had lapses in taking pictures too because of a lack of memory space, I keep buying cards, writing them to CD to delete from some cards, but I still end up no memory left, lol, that's what's happened to my DSLR at the moment and why my Flickr stream is dry at the moment. Oh! And, my brother got me a tablet for Christmas last year and that takes pictures (not even decent ones though) but I have to upload them directly to Facebook, and well...they're HUGE! I keep saying, when I get the time, I'll copy off and shrink them, save re-upload, never get to doing it however, oops. See, huge and under lit - http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/537119_338839062886792_1755962361_n.jpg

Back the the busy comment, I'm actually dilly-dallying right now and am supposed to be cooking food for Jinj, lol, but I'll run over a few things quick.

Beauceron's are sort of an in between GSD's and Malinois, they aren't "much" (don't know how to put it really? revved up? Crazy? Wild?) as a Mal, but to many average GSD owners they are a huge upgrade! (except in the grooming department :D) I've heard from some people they can be harder to raise than a Mal because of their incredibly slow maturity rate, many people have dropped working with them in Ring sports because they don't like how much longer it takes to train them, it's FAR from an instant gratification breed that starts earning titles at 6 months old.

The biggest suggestion though, EARLY and HEAVY socialization is a MUST for this breed or you will forever "break" your dog, trust me I'm dealing with the dog intolerant consequences of it now. EARLY, and, OFTEN, don't expect to have a life outside your Beauceron for at least the first 8 months, and then we hit the teenage stage and might have to go through some of it all over again! So yeah, good training classes are a MUST too, don't expect "manners" to be in their vocabulary right away, or at the rate of an average dog (she still has "4 on the floor" issues that crop up at the most inappropriate times).

It literally took about 24 months before I actually finally got her to start really focusing on "work" outside my own home or training classes, you know that BASIC stuff like "heel", and, listening? And even then, I just got nearly dragged into the exhibition building yesterday for Rally, and although she responded just fine outside the ring, "lost it" the moment the judge asked "Are you ready?" EVERY FREAKING TIME! Honestly, we ended with a qualifying score and 4th place by default (2 entries didn't show up), and I somehow feel she more than didn't earn it, at all. The more she ages the better she's gotten at home, and you can see her having so much fun in class, but she's still at about the maturity level of a 5 month old the moment we go anywhere else. It's almost as if you didn't think I ever did anything with this dog, training or exercise!

Um, honestly she's the sweetest thing and everyone can see that, but you have to watch her really carefully, my mother calls it "the princess syndrome", she can get resource guardy (people) very quick, NILIF is a good plan for this breed, a VERY good plan.

I'll type more later, I've just spend a half hour writing out what I've got so far, dilly-dallied too long!

While I have another quick moment, to finish up...

Enda behaved SO much better on Sunday, and pulled off another 4th place qualifying score with plenty of competition and completed her Rally novice title :hail:! Honestly, I think the best description of working with a Beauceron is, for them "be spontaneous" and you "have plenty of patience".

On Thursday, she just wasn't "there", wasn't with me at all, she decided shortly after we got there to fixate, on a door! That is her newest thing, every where we go! "A door, it opens, we bark!" Thankfully she had stopped barking by the time we got into the ring, but spent the entire time looking at it, I had to try everything to get her to listen to my commands and just barely squeaked out the Q. But night and day, she was SO different on Sunday, maybe because she "warmed up" to the environment, I don't know, she stopped fixating on the door, payed attention to me, and...Made a friend !!! She wasn't socialized very well to other dogs, so she can be snappy with other dogs getting in her face and space and even a bit resource guardy over me, nope, over-excited and lunging at the end of it's leash she was making friends with, a Hairless Xolo  .

She's a lot of fun to work with, when she's not having random attacks of "ZOMG that person's looking at me I have to say HI!!!" or "I'm bored I'm going to do this instead", imagine that, a sheepdog who gets bored, lol. She's glued to my hip, that's a very Beauceron trait, they LOVE their people, and that's another thing you can break easy, they really aren't an easy to breed to just send off with "handlers", I know of one very winning special who was damaged badly temperamentally from being swapped to another handler, it was very upsetting to see.

Enda is from Nanrox Beaucerons, her dams lines are mostly old working, her sire is all show, she takes after her sire more, to the point she's nearly a copy! Duke -
