well my day had a sterling finish. I could not be prouder of both my kids..Hyia and Victor for how they conducted themselves during our PEts for LIfe Visit. Hyia was dressed in a very pretty summer dress with a bright blue headband, her hair nicely brushed. She visited with the elderly and answered questions and gave compliments that were appropriate. One woman said i brought Hyia just for her! THen she asked if she could play her songs that she has learned in the last three weeks on the piano and i said of course. NOt only did she play them, she played them perfectly, timing, expression, volume, and i could have picked my jaw up off the ground. I told her when we get home GG isn't going to believe it, and that it would put a big old grin on her face which it did exactly that. SHe didn't rush, but sat politely when we had to wait. She held eye contact with people that weren't easy to look at as well. Good Girl Hyia, high five and way to go!!!!!!! Not bad for an 8 year old!
Then my canine kid..gets his gold star as well. One woman was seriously aggitated wanting to know where her husband was, she was striking out at people trying to grab them, they of course were staying just out of reach. SHe was crying. I took Victor over and he without prompting flipped that woman's hand right on to his head, and looked at her face so intently, she stopped what she was doing, and said well hello there, and started to rub his head first with one hand then with both. In fact she was mushing his skin pretty good around there and i was watching to make sure she didnt' poke him in the eye. He never stopped looking at her face and his tail wagged faster and faster which prompted her to say...you like me don't you. ROck on VIctor!!! You cannot teach a dog to do that. He handled a circle group which the last time we did that he didn't like at all, but this time it was like he knew he was on stage and really put out the dramatics as he caught bubbles while on leash. NOt leaping about, but standing on his hind legs and taking a step or two, steadying himself and waiting until one was just right. All eyes were on him by this time. Then we went around and he positioned himself better then he ever has...each time he gets better but this time..we had a long wait while we waiting for the return of the activity director and we were in the hall where everyone was lined up to get their meds. IT was close quarters, but he managed to stay out of everyone's way, and still pay attention to each one that passed and talked to him. A long visit this time, an hour and a half, and he wasn't antzy for a second of it. .wowser was i proud. I took him out and got him two taquitos at quicktrip as a reward. Then off to the guild to find out the bisque kiln hasn't even been fired yet which totally screws up my plans for tuesday. Then a half hour's drive to Mom's to pick up Mary and Pepper, tell mom all my good news about Hy and Vic and fiannnnnnnaly i am home. Will go to bed with a smile on my face. Nothing better then being proud of your kids.
