Eh I haven't been posting much about it since I wanted to see where it would go, but I think my little blue-eyed angel is going to have more problems than I bargained for.

She's been having fairly severe GI issues this past week and depsite bland diet, etc., has been dropping weight like nothing else. She should probably be over 45lbs and she weighs 39 at the moment. She went into the vet last night again, and was diagnosed with one of 3 things, GI-wise. She either has a parasite, has IBS (had no idea dogs could get that) or a food allergy. So it's the Cheza food dance all over again if the Metronidazole doesn't clear things up (or, I should say, solidify them.) She is very active, has one hell of an appetite, shows no signs of being "sick." So lets cross our fingers it isn't IBS, I can deal with the other 2 :p

She also sat down and had a bit of a talk with us regarding the double merle gene and what it potentially implies for Lyra. Cheza has it as well, but manifested as "piebald" instead of a true merle, so she's genetically a bit better off. She has been a very healthy dog with the exception of her allergies.

She went on to say that while most people react negatively to the term, these "white dogs" are mutants, and as such are prone to many more health abnormalities than other dogs. Sensitive stomachs/GI (been there), sensitive skin (been there) and potential neurological issues.

Any of you remember the incident with her eyes? We got more of an answer last night, and it appears that she could have been displaying the aftershocks of a mild epilectic seizure, or the beginnings of a neurological disorder... /sigh. She asked us to start saving up for a battery of neuro tests down the road.

She also has a funny little fat patch of skin just behind her vulva that will have to be "tucked" when she's spayed if she doesn't grow into it.

None of this is serious right now, I just hope the little girl doesn't have to live a stressful life :(

I hope everything goes well for her. I know she has a good mom taking care of her.

I thought you knew this when you first decided to take her??

Sounds like a pain for you, though, good luck and keep us updated!

the mutation part, yeah, but i was naive enough to not consider the possibility of a serious neurological disorder.

I'm still glad I have her no matter what, I just hope for her sake it doesn't manifest into anything serious.
