Here's my little Memorial Day speech:

Recently, America's been having a tough time. There are a helluva lotta things going on in this country I don't agree with. But based on the morals, foundations, what this country was built on, I am proud to be an American.

I'm proud to be an American when I wake up in the morning and can put on whatever clothes I want.
I'm proud to be an American when I turned on the television and can watch what I want.
I'm proud to be an American when a criminal is brought to justice or a woman votes. When someone beats the odds, when an inner city kid gets a scholarship and becomes a doctor. When I found out Ellen DeGeneres and Porta Del Rossi are getting married. When I see a black man and a white woman holding hands. When I read the newspaper editorials. When the cops need to get a search warrant. When I read about our history and think about how far we've come.

Education is a right in this country, and now, with the media being so incredibly corrupt and so very influential, it is key. It's important to learn what the media is NOT telling us, and make an educated decision in every issue which side is "right".

Today I'm going to stand side by side with my fellow Americans and be proud of every solider in Iraq. Many of them are fighting a war they hate for a country they love, a country I love. I'm going to be proud of my volunteer firefighters, and the little league teams and the girl scouts that are the future of our country. I'll be proud of every voter, whether they agree with me or not. I'll be proud of the immigrants, past and present, who risked their lives to come to our country because that's how **** great it is, who brought new ideas and new culture into America. I'll be proud I can get italian food, chinese food, or greek food in the same strip mall. I'll be proud I can travel 200 miles and everything's different, the atmosphere, the people, the food, the beliefs, yet the basis is the same, we have America in common. I'll be proud that when the government effs up *Katrina*, the people pull through. I'll be proud that as long as people love this country, we have a chance to be great, we have a chance to be what our founding fathers wanted us to be.

I'll be proud to be an American.

The country is far from perfect, but I'll always stand up for those that fight to make it what it is. Proud to be an American, for sure. :)

I love America because we invented Dr. Pepper.

And everything Milo said too. ;)

That's respectful flippancy, BTW.

Yap, God Bless! I am sitting here hiding in my room and writing about the Patriot Act while sippin' on a corona :)

I'm visiting my parents and they are having a party... and some people just thought it was ok for them to bring their kids along... since I was there, too. WTF?! ;) Kinda funny, I am launching my career around helping youngsters out... but in my spare time I am not particularly fond of them, well at least most kids. :)
