How do they score that? I couldn't see anywhere how that was done. Look at their records- some of the big dogs are doing over 4000lbs! I see that a Dane in this contest pulled 1800 or so.

WOW! I don't think I've even thought of a crested, chi, pom, any of the tiny dogs doing weight pull!

I totally have two toy dogs that would excel in weight pull....IMO....

if there were events here, I would totally condition and enter them.

That crestie looks beefy...look at those legs!~

Holy cow! That Crestie beat out a slew of bulldogs, pit mixes, and staffies! I bet the owner was amused by that.... The crestie pulled nearly 200lbs more than the 69lb "Ren. Bulldog"... And more than the entire 45-65lb weight class. Scary.

just amazing, doesnt suprise me, these little guys have ALOT of pulling power when you get down to it...the breeds known well for its hole digging and tree climbing and that takes ALOT of "upper body" strength.

hes a very good looking little man too!

The rules are different depending upon the host organization (I just recently started UKC). If the cart is on rails, the dog must pull 10 times its weight in order to get a qualifying pull. If the cart is on wheels, the required amount is less (3 times I think). Once the dog gets the cart moving and maintains momentum, the seem to do pretty well. The problem is when they stop and try to get it started again (which is what we're working against right now).

FWIW - There was an Australian Terrier at the last pull I went to who pulled something close to that weight and it looked effortless for him.

He out pulled the pits and sammies both on that list, in both max weight and time pulled.

I think I'm in love.

Some day I'll either have a long coat chi or a crestie (or both, lol) they are both on my list for toy dogs.

I've met Toby quite a few times. He is an amazing little dog. At the June show he wore a ChippenDale costume... he's a crowd pleaser for sure. Great dog, great owner!
