We played AAC this weekend in Georgetown Ontario. We stayed with my aunt and uncle as they live 30 minutes from the trial site and like having me and my kids over. Got lost trying to find it though. Thick fog.. google maps dropped the ball and gave me bad directions.. but it was a good trial.

Saturday Cider and I had a clean but the world's slowest steeplechase run. Like near double the course time. It was wet out and I was harried from being lost and almost missed the walk through. Got a 4th for our efforts. Advanced standard was BEAUTIFUL. Nailed our weave entry, she was so with me, serious team work.. and managed to run past the table just enough we got called for a 5 fault refusal got 2nd. Smudge ran advanced snooker, was all my fault we screwed it up. I forgot my plan and he back jumped to get to me. Being the often only 10incher.. he got first. Cider's master jumpers run was a disaster. I tripped on her off the bat, I wasn't feeling it we messed up enough we got eliminated. Was a good day though.

Day 2 rocked though though in comparison. Cider was first dog on the line all three of her runs as there were no 10 inch dogs. Usually it scares me, didn't yesterday. Master jumpers looked ugly. Actually ran well. We were rocking it.. One of the last jumps I called her name as she was in the air and she took the bar, 5 faults all my fault. Think we got a 2nd. Advanced standard was fanfreakingtastic. We were running so well together. We got 1st and Q'd after a year of trying for that last Q.. Cider got her Advanced Agility Dog of Canada title. I'm a little scared now as it means we are in master standard finally..

To add to the story.. last year the judge who judged this standard run booted us from the ring. Cider's a drama queen.. she got up and wandered off the start line, and when I touched her bum to get her to sit she yelped. Any noise that can be construed as a dog being hurt you get booted regardless. I was so upset that people would think I was an animal abuser I cried at the trial..

I was so upset I haven't entered under her again.. though any judge would boot you for that or they should.. One trial she was judging at a few months ago I specifically avoided anything she judged. I did enter under her this weekend.. and we Q'd her standard run. I told her how I'd felt as she had presented our title ribbon to us. And it was a good clear the air moment and we had a nice talk. Seems one of her and her husband's dogs has a drama queen complex too.. and he has been kicked out of master team (which is 10x worse as it's not just you.. you get your partner booted too) for her yelping for no real reason. Nice to know it's not just you. I've been so careful since about how I prompt her to sit.. and worked to make sure we have a pretty solid wait at the line so we don't have a repeat.

Smudge ran advanced jumpers and got 1st and a Q. His second jumpers run rocked. Was trappy and I didn't think we had the skills. He surprised me and he was wonderful and focused. Sadly he went wide over a jump and never saw the tire, so 5 faults and 1st but I now know we have the skills..

Lastly Cider and I ran another master jumpers. I was so excited about her title I forgot we had another run (right after).. and fed her her dinner. She had a full tummy and wasn't so thrilled. Wasn't as focused, but found herself and we ran nicely together. I dropped my arm at a jump slightly and she squeezed between me and the jump rather than over it for 5 faults and 4th. That's okay though. We had so many tiny faults this weekend that I think we have the skills to rock and we need some slight fine tuning these days, nothing major and I'm really proud of that.

To top off the weekend they had a raffle. The money made going to the Ontario Vet College trust for pets in Tom Walker's name. 2 years ago a big Ontario agility competitor's husband was hit and killed by the car of a volunteer firefighter as her tried to help someone in a car crash in front of their home. It was a cause he believed in, so the trial was held in his honour. It was a huge weekend for Linda.. She put the last Q on his dog for their ATCHc. Was incredibly emotional. They got special tabs for their title ribbons for this weekend to add on that say it's Tomi's trial. It was sweet how much they put into it.. and how happy Linda was.

We entered the raffle and my luck held again. Like Xmas in August for my kids. We won the giant wellness basket full of awesome swag and canned food I'm too cheap to buy usually as well as a load of nice cookies I won sheer leopard curtains, 2 movie passes with concession stand money, and 2 similar gift baskets with more fleecey blankets in them, a scrapbook, a mug, the most awesome candle ever.. it smells like candy corn and some other things. Was an issue packing to come home as my trunk had been taken over by raffle prizes

Fantabulous weekend. Hope they hold another trial. People were super nice and we had such a good time. My kids are tuckered out today more than usual I'm thrilled

Cider came up to remind me that I won them toys too yesterday. A funny set of three tuggy/stufties. The all Canadian combo pack ;) A football, a hockey puck and a Budweiser beer.. with a digital keychain for me ;)
