Agility AND Obedience

Im so excited. Katie is going to start her obedience training soon (before the baby comes), and I found a place that does obedience and agility training. I think she would love it, and they offer beginner classes etc. Once the baby comes I think the scheduled one-on-one time will help too...let her know she still will get mommy alone Not that she will be any less spoiled b/c she'll have a sister! Sorry just had to rant, Im excited now! Here's the link, I would appreciate anyone who takes a min. to look and see what they think.

In our obedience classes, you dog will be measured for a training collar. This high-quality, new equipment is MANDATORY for the class and is included in your registration fee.

This is about the only thing that set off the warning bells - a mandatory training collar? A collar that they have no pics or description of, at that. I'd guess by their description of their methods that it's not a prong, e-collar or a choke chain, but... what is it? And why would they mandate a specific piece of equipment right from the beginning, without seeing what a specific dog needs? I'm guessing it's more "controlling" than a buckle collar or they'd say "we only train on buckle collars!" or something to that effect.

Anyway. The rest of it looks great, all positive, their lists of "rules" for class looks good. Good luck and have fun!

Either way, agility and obedience is going to be so much fun!

Yah I agree a "Mandatory Collar" most of the time they will let you pick from a few or you get to pick any collar!!!

It is going to be SOOOO fun!!!! I have been through two training classes and it is SOOO fun!!!!!

Also we are going to need updates and picts!!!

I too hope you'll have a blast. I would however question the madatory collar.

I'll give them a call before I go and ask. I just thought they would have a "good" collar in case people brought choke collars, or something THEY didnt approve of. Other then that it looks good though right?

That may well be what they meant. Sounds like fun, we'll need updates and pictures ya know!
