I thought this would be a good topic to bring up.

I know there is alot of contriversy on age gap differences.

I would like to know what you think about age differences.

My friends parents are 43 years difference...that is a big gap but its true love.

I dont think age matters but I would like to know what you think about it.

I have no problem with age difference between two consenting adults. There isn't enough love in the world, I think it's ridiculous to try to pick it apart when someone has finally found it.

Love is love; age, race, gender or beliefs don't change people's feelings.

Love doesn't care what race, sex, or beliefs you are.

My old man and I have a 7 year difference between us... but, as you said, true love is true love! I began to date him at 16 years of age, and we have been together ever since :)

I don't think it matters as long as your goals are the same..

I think it only matters if for example he is older and has kids already, is done with being a parent, and she is younger and wants a family.

I have had a relationship where my ex was 14 years older than me, it didn't work because I was still such a party animal, where as he was more of a pipe and slippers kind, staying in every night.

But as they say true love is compromise... Obviously it wasn't true love.

I agree with everyone, but I have a friend who is 14 and is on the verge of going out with an 18 yr. old. Is that ok?

Love is Love.

If you truly love someone then age is irrelevant.

My husbands parents had a 30 something age gap between them and had more than 25 years + of married life together.

True love

As long as he doesn't push her to do something that she doesn't want to do. My boyfriend is 19(but I'm almost 16, so I guess theres a tiny difference)
If you think about it, its "only" a 4 year difference, but the difference seems greater when you're young. Like for example when you are 20, and your boyfriend is 24, the difference doesn't seem so big anymore... at least its seems that way to me lol.

That's what I thought, except I don't think he'll be pushing her into anything I think she would be very willing to do something with him, which would be illegal and plus I just think she's way too young. The gap does seem so much bigger when you are young though, I mean she's a freshman and he's a senior which seems huge but if they were in their twenties or thirties then four years would be nothing.

It's really, I believe, an individual matter. The man I was with who taught me the most about being able to play with life and have fun was almost twenty years older than I; the one who was at the opposite end of the scale was five years younger.

Age Differences Do Matter

See I think age differences do matter but more importantly it is where someone is in there life. Someone could be 45 years old and still hit the bar scene every weekend and then he is probably going to find someone from that same bar scene regardless of age.

Now having said that people can be the same biological age but be in two ompletely different stages of their lives.

Age is but a number....

What matters is if the personalities fit.

One of my best friends is 18 (I am 25), and I have other good friends who are alot older (40+). We can all get along together, and all enjoy the same conversations, laughs etc etc etc..

It's the age of a persons soul that counts not their body, I personally have no problems with age gaps.

My son is turning 50 and " dating " a girl 36 . Hope he's still active and going strong at 80 or there will be a 62 year old lady ready to boogie ! I'm glad I don't have to look after a 90 year old man !

As long as they are both adults. But I have to admitt I love it when the women is older- although its usually the other way around!

When I was fourteen-ish me and all my friends would go out with guys 20 and up. Now looking back on it they were obviously complete loosers. I know people who will argue me till I die about that but there is nothing a 20something yr old should be doing with a high school student.

i think age DOES matter when say 1 party is 14 and one party is 18, there are things an 18 yr old boy (or girl) is going to want as part of the relationship that in my opinion a 14 yr old partner is too young to offer, while many are willing i dont feel that your ready for "THAT" step untill your at least 16-18.

however between 2 consenting adults, i have NO issues with age gaps, Im 22 and ive been seeing a guy whos 10 yrs older than me, weve been together for 2 years now and are very happy together, we have alot in common including both our interests and drive so it works, another couple, frined of ours have that same 10 yr gap and they too are very happy! shes 21 and hes 31 and theyve been together 2 yrs and yet another couple frineds of ours have a 20+ year age gap and there mad for eachother...

I think after the age of 18 if you want to see someone whow 50+ years oder than you, thats your buisness! have fun!

Age is a state of mind. I wouldn't want to be with a 50-year-old man that acted like a 16-year-old boy lol. But I wouldn't mind being with a 20-year-old man (with a hot body) that was a little more mature. :p

i dont think it matters much, except when the younger party is 16 and younger, and the age gap is more than 4 or more years, give or take....

I think the important part is that they are at the same stages in life, and AWARE of any consequences of having a large age difference. My ex and i were only 4 yrs apart, and while it worked for awhile, it became apparent that we simple were NOT at the same stages of life, and we broke up.

Going back to my original thing...like foxy is saying, while a 14 year old may think she is at the same stage as the older guy, and ready for things like sex...im sorry, but i dont think she is..and if the guy is that immature that he is still at a 14 yr olds level...well...eh...might turn out better that way, but thats just kinda sad, lol.

My friend dated a 32 yr old when she was 17...i thought it was weird, but eh, it didnt end up working out anyways, for the reasons mentioned above.

To the OP...may I ask, how old are your parents...43 years WOW! Also, how long have they been together??

I think age matters until you hit about 19-20, then it's kind of up for grabs. But before that...the type of guys who go for women under 18 when there's a huge gap sometimes just come off as really skeezy. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule, but in general jail bait is jail bait.

Then again, I seem to go for guys who are anywhere from 3-10 years older than I am, but I'm also in my mid-20's so it's not as big of a deal.

I have a friend who dated a 38 year old at age 15. Personally that age gap is too big for someone her age. If she were 20 and he was 43, I'd say fine. But at 15? The broke up anyways. But seriously, if you were 38 would you go out with a 15 year old??
