Affenpinscher
Also known as: Monkey dog or Monkey TerrierHistory: Affenpinschers, or dogs like them, have been known since the 1600's. They were breed specifically to be ratters, with no interest in confirmation or color. They were really breed in earnest when a man in Germany wanted a solution to the problem of mice in people's houses. Early breeders crossed them with Pugs, German Pinschers, and Silky Pinschers.
Temperament: They are alert, inquisitve dogs, they are generally quit except when they feel they are threatened. They are a breed that is fearless when cornered.
Grooming: You should brush the coat once or twice a week.The coat will require some clipping to make it look it's best.
Health: Heart murmurs, Legg Perthes, Luxating Patellas, and kidney problems. They mostly live 12-14 years.
