Question: So I have been planning for a while that when I move out and the timing is right, I would like to adopt a dog. Of course, this is far into the future but I figured why not ask my question now I am leaning towards a senior, as they tug at my heart strings and besides vet bills, I am thinking would be less maintenance than a young energetic dog. However, where I live, the nearby shelters rarely have small dogs, and are only ever half full. The dogs are in no danger (no-kill shelter) and actually have it pretty good here. However, I know in other places that the situation is quite dire and that there are high euthanasia rates. I really want to help a dog in need and am thinking maybe what I will do is travel somewhere to pick a dog. So my question is: Will places allow me to adopt dogs if I don't live locally? Like can I fill out an adoption sheet and just go (lmao) or will that not be allowed? Thoughts?
