I'll be adopting a new puppy next weekend to be an addition to our family and a companion to our current 8 month old pup. We currently have a 4lb poodle mix and the pup we are adopting is a 6 month old Havanese.

Now for my question: The adoption place is an hour away (san diego), I wanted to introduce them at a local park next to my house instead of them both meeting in the car ride home. Do you think it's a good idea to leave my pup at home while picking up the new one? OR should we take her with us and just have them introduced there? What about when we do get home? Should they be sepperated when nobody is there to attend to them? etc, etc, etc.....Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated... this will be my first have 2 dogs.

Thanks.

Hi and Welcome :)

I would personally take my dog with me to collect her/him (if this is possible) and introduce them on neutral ground.
I wouldn't leave them alone without supervision at 1st either.

I am sure that there are others here who can give lots of advice :)
