Hello all
I have a three month old Silky Terrier who I am trying to housebreak by using the "crateing" method. If he is in his kennel during the day, i have been taking him out every hour because he still will pee and poo in his kennel. Even after I have taken him out. This has been going on for about 6 weeks. Also, I will take him out, he will pee, i will praise him, give him snack and he will sniff around the house and pee again, in the house!! Like 5 min after i have taken him out! Sometimes he will squat but nothings there...what is he doing? I have tried to take him out again right away but I cant take him out every 5 minutes! And I dont understand why he would poop in his kennel...he sleeps in there?? Is he confused about something? I dont know, i am sick of cleaning poo out of his kennel. I was thinking about having him fixed...would that stop any of this? Thanks for you help.

"fixing" him whont help. But if he's a non show dog, please fix him anyways.

Try a smaller kennel, were he just has room to turn around and stand up.

I know alot of people who have too big of kennels. My friend has a Jack Russle and a XL size kennel, and the wonders why he has a pee corner in his kennel.

ya, i thought about getting a smaller kennel...
I know my last dog (Harley R.I.P) NEVER peed or pooped in his kennel and he was a larger dog...MMmmmmm?
Might have to make a trip to super walmart tonight!
