I just posted a LONG thread about dog park stuff, and it got lost in cyber space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
I will try and put it all down later. basically it boiled down to a couple of things:
Take timid dogs to the timid dog area.
3/4 y.o. kids have no place at an off leash dog park
Taking strollers to the dog park is a bad idea
Kepping your timid dogs in the bottom of the stroller with the kid in the top of the stroller b/c you dont want to go to the timid section of the dog park b/c your 3/4 y.o. daughter is "having fun" playing with the big dogs in the regular porion of the dog park is a recipie for disaster.
A 10 lb dog can run between a 3 or 4 y.o little girl and her fisher-price shopping cart with no problem.
a 40 lb Thor puppy who is chasing said 10 lb dog invariably knocks the little girl down.
After the 10 lb dog is put in the bottom of the stroller with another 7 to 10 lb dog, the Thor will still want to play.
If you take a Thor to another side of the dog park to play away from the Tiny dogs in the stroller, the Thor will invarriably pull a seek and destroy for the other dog, at speeds that were perviously thought unobtainable by the Thor.
People with a 3 month old 7-10 lb sheep dog who expect it to grow to over 100 lbs, are (in my opinion) not the brightest.
I would like some support with the previous. Has ANYONE EVER seen a dog that at 3 months was about 10 lbs, and still grew to over 100 lbs????
