Yes, I've realized that now. PETA sucks. -cuddles her rats, dogs, cats, etc.- :( Some of their campaigns are still HELPFUL [like the rat mill/Rainbow Exotics protest] but companion animals should not be eliminated altogether.

PETA, and to a lesser extent HSUS, further their real agenda (the abolishion of human-animal interaction and the elimation of domesticated animals) by taking on such worthy causes. As a result they gain public sympathy and support, as people believe them to be crusaders for the end of cruelty. Of course, they also wildly exaggerate the "horror" of some of the causes, but many ARE valid . . but they are a front, to suck money and support from the gulible. Of course, you say that and people look at you like you are a freak . . . but PETAs own materials admit it if you dig past the flyers they hand out.

I had contacted Dog Fancy about it, and got this back in reply:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting DogChannel about the fraudulent ad that appeared on our website.

DogChannel and DOG FANCY do not knowingly accept advertising from PETA and do not agree with its extremist views. Unfortunately, PETA resorted to guerilla tactics by placing an ad in DOG FANCY and on DogChannel under a pseudonym to deceive readers with a free gift bag offer, opting to use shock tactics to try to get its message heard.

DogChannel and DOG FANCY promote responsible dog ownership, including the responsible breeding and sale of purebred dogs. This is the first time in many, many years that PETA has succeeded in slipping past our screening measures, and we accept responsibility for the failure to catch this ad before going to press. We apologize to all who have been offended by PETA’s offensive and misleading stunt, and will continue to refine the systems in place to prevent our readers and advertisers from being exposed to such distasteful hoaxes.

I hope that you will continue to read and enjoy DogChannel.

Sincerely,

Susan Chaney
Editor, DOGFANCY, DogChannel

peta reminds me of those anti abortion religious fanatics who kill doctors who perform abortions. They justify murder to promote their cause. Peta has been involved in terroristic acts at companies that use animals for testing. Yep, blowing up a lab is a great way to gain public support for your cause. I'd love to get a couple of those skinnyass atrophied jerks in a back alley.

I like the comment about when their diabetic leader stops using animal tested insulin they might have a valid cause. Once again, it's selective. You can't have a pet, but I'll use a product tested on animals to survive.

Well, to be, sort of, fair, the testing of insulin in animals (and its derivation from animals) is water under the bridge. Its derived from GM bacteria and there is no need for further testing. Of course, if you have AIDS, they oppose testing to find a cure for that, so diabetics, you're ok, AIDS patients, you're screwed . . .

It's not water under the bridge for me. Not when she explains it herself in this manner:

PETA’s Mary Beth Sweetland should also answer for her own personal hypocrisy. Like more than ten million Americans, she’s diabetic. Sweetland injects herself daily with insulin that was tested on animals; she has conceded that her medicine “still contains some animal products -- and I have no qualms about it…. I don’t see myself as a hypocrite. I need my life to fight for the rights of animals.â€

Yep, well, never mind then. She had her opportunity to gracefully dodge the topic and she tossed it away in the most callous way she could. Self-important bint isn't she?

PeTA opposes AIDS research that requires the study of lab animals. PeTA's President Ingrid Newkirk once said even if animal research produced a cure for AIDS, "we'd be against it."

I guess there's no one suffering from AIDS whose life is worthy enough to fight for the rights of animals, only diabetics.

Sheesh!

A well meaning family member bought me a dog fancy subscription.. I read it, but find it's more ads for kennels that seem pretty skeazy than anything. There are breeders I recognize and know are good interspersed though..

I didn't buy any of my dogs through DF though.. and I read it. So I deserve a body bag for my pets too?

Well obviously ;)

More so directed to Summit's as per usual agreement with whacko legislation.. and in this case thinking extremist terrorist organization tactics are clever.
