i know its been SO LONG since ive been here... and i have missed it, there's so many new people here im sure most of you i dont even know (or remember me!)...

so, ive still got rah and berlin, and we're still keeping on, keeping in!

rah was diagnosed with DCM february of 2010 - he's nearing 1 year post-diagnosis and still doing well and we see the cardiologist next thursday. in may of last year, he was the third dog in the nation to undergo a new experimental procedure that put stem cells into his heart in an effort to delay/reverse the disease process that took my dear bowie from me in 2006.

he's doing wonderful since then - he has no idea that he's sick and we're continuing to show as much as i can afford to - he has one utility leg in ASCA and one in AKC and we're entered in both venues in the next month with our fingers crossed!

he competed in the All Star Tournament this past year and he placed 7th in Super Rally, 15th in Open (which was a miracle considering his last round he was a disaster and actually jumped THROUGH a 28 inch high jump, but still retrieved!!!!!). In addition to his 2008 rankings in CDSP and APDT, in 2009 he was Front and Finish ranked as the #9 all breed, #3 working group and #2 Doberman for Open A in AKC, and in 2010 was CDSP ranked as #17 Nov C and #7 Open A !

Berlin has been coming along - she's nearing 3.5 years old and is just hitting her stride - we're hoping to come out in AKC this year as I spent the past year working on her attitude and work ethic, and most importantly our relationship as she's a hard dog to work and I was a very bad handler. She's a super star though and quite possibly more talented than any other dog I own and capable of much more. While she hasn't done much competing in obedience, she did make her AKC debut in agility and in 2 weekends got 2 NA legs, 1 NAJ leg and 1 NF leg all with placements - aside from her obedience debut this year I'm hoping to do a lot of agility with her and make our USDAA debut as well!

So, it's nice to be back here - I'm still practicing vet med in central NJ and training with a wonderful group of people who truly understand my dogs and know how to work them, and more than anything are wonderful friends and great training partners and mentors.

Hope to see a few familiar faces around here... I'll get started on a photo thread, of course!

Welcome back! I'm glad Rah has been able to receive innovative medical care and hope he continues to do well. Sounds like you do some amazing things with your dogs and are a great (re)addition to the Chaz community :)

Please, do keep us updated on how the treatment has worked for Rah. What an awesome thing if it works!
