Wow Foxy, that's odd... Labs are some of the most docile in the cichlid species. Given the correct conditions...

I want to go back to Cichlids but for now husband thinks that swordtails/mollies are the way to go. We'll see how long it takes for him to get bored and want INTERESTING fish again LOL.

I used to have a peacock, kenyi, and something else... I can't remember, it was about 4 yrs ago!

I'll agree with the big box store employee thing, but sometimes you do get lucky. I was REALLY into fish back in the day, and often had the dubious duty of telling people I wouldn't sell them fish because of what they already had. Or someone would pick out a tank, then walk over and want to buy fish for THAT tank. Or someone would have a ten gallon set up and want to buy an Oscar or two.

I also got the people that assumed they knew more than I did and proceeded to argue with me :) Then I would pull out the Fish bible and show them where I get my info, and problem would be solved.

I will say though, that when I walk into the big box stores, I don't ask their employees questions. Usually, when they question what fish we are getting, all we have to say is we have a 125 and they stop asking questions. 98% of the people that work at Petco, Petsmart, Walmart, etc only have knowledge in fish from what they have learned from their "training" book, and nothing else. But sometimes you will get someone who has a passion and can really help you out.
