I have to do a report for Marketing class on petstores. Ah, fun
So today I went to a petstore that carries a few puppies. And of course, after I had gotten my info, I had to hold one, a mini schnauzer who was too sweet!
So this lady came in and started talking to the me and the owner of the store. She was a little intrusive, petting the pup that I was holding, telling me how much the puppy loved me and how I should buy it  It came out that I have two dogs already. She asks what kinds and I tell her "pitbull and lab/newfoundland".
I can literally see her face change when I say pitbull, and she takes a step back away from me. She's quiet a moment, then says, a little fearfully "If you took this puppy home, how would the pitbull react?" I said, "Well, she loves my other dog, who is an older puppy, they're the best of friends. They get along wonderfully." She says oh, then leaves. It was weird. I just think it's strange that I would get that kind of reaction when I don't even have my dog with me. Some people...

There are goods and bads everywhere....Half the time when I tell people the breed of my 3 dogs....they laugh at the mix...the other half give me the OMG face and ask about the APBT ...they can't believe she is ok with the other 2 small dogs...:rofl1:

in other news, i used to work at a couple of pet/puppy stores...
i highly doubt you got all the financial info from them in terms of mark ups and such so if you need anything like that just drop me a pm...youd be amazed at the kind of money they make.

Yah, I've had people recoil when I say I have an APBT.

And then I get to tell them about how she used to LOVE people and would do anything to be petted, but so many people have been hateful to her that now she just turns off and acts like people don't even exist . . . and how thanks to that I don't subject her to being around people except at things like weight pull events where there are people who know what she is and make her feel like a happy, friendly, outgoing little dog SHOULD get to feel.

I have more in common with Filas every day :wall:

It wasn't the owner who reacted that way, it was a lady who came in (she talked about how she had been in yesterday, so I got the feeling she came in a lot to look at puppies). The owner didn't seem phased at all.
Thanks for the offer Foxy, but I really only needed to check out their products, store characteristics, and service levels. Thanks anyway! :)
