He flew in and landed on the boys' parakeet's cage...............

Gives you an idea of his size

Then after walking around the kitchen he went back on top of his own cage

Ah Mr. Stick, we meet again!

I will destroy you!

You is next Mr. Camera!

Marty is stunning. I can't think of a sweeter bird then an amazon. I am so happy you have one.

He's beautiful! Such a pretty boy. I'm going through a bit of a parrot-craving phase right now, and I'm jealous.

Thanks ladies :)

Gemp, if it helps you decide, he is NOT intimidated by the dogs whatsoever! As a matter of fact, HE intimidates THEM! He likes them all well and good, but when he decides he has had enough of them sticking their noses at him he makes them back off, hahahahaha

Is that a male parrot thing?? Toby hates my husbands guts too. Nothing like seeing a 6 foot adult male cower in fear from a 150 or so gram parrot.

I have been told that it's more of a territorial/possessive of his mate *me* type thing probably a male thing! LOL

Kevin sits with a throw pillow ready for a shield when Marty is out and about.

Oh, and check your PMs :D

YAY! Marty pics!!!! I love to watch birds! They're awesome! I'm not a big fan of owning them though bc they are usually very loud... but I did fall in love with a triton cockatoo once... I wanted to adopt him when his owner went into re-hab... but I wasn't able to :(

It always seems to be the males that are more possessive/territorial than the females. Toby definatly sees me as his, which is why him and Ivan are never out at the same time. That would just be a blood bath waiting to happen. And well honestly Ivan would be the looser. Just to warn you that if Marty views you as his "mate" watch out during their mating season. You could possibly be fed AND your hand molested. Those seem to be Tobys favorite things to do in the late summer early fall months.

ROFL.........been there done that! He loves to gurg it up, but luckily he swallows it back down before it hits! He tries his best to molest my hand as well........hahahaha

He is just so cute when he's doing it though. He will grab my finger, jerk his head to gurg up something tasty and then talk to me "Hello" "Good boy" etc......it makes me giggle that he is attempting to smooth talk me the whole time :rofl1:

Lol atleast hes nice about it. Toby doesn't believe in sweet talking, he likes brut force if nessesary. The closest sweet talking Toby does is purr in my ear, which makes me nervous. Toby also has a bit of redirected aggression. LOL what ever is handy will get bit if its close enough.

He's so pretty! It's nice to see Chazzers' "other pets". MArty is looking really good, he seems to be flourishing under your care. :)

Awe thank you sizzle, that is such a nice thing to say :)

I have noticed his belly feathers have filled in and gotten much better (if you look in my siggie you can see his belly bald spots........now all vanished), and he seems more and more willing to try new foods. When he first came he would only eat his pellets and peanuts. Now he is willing to try anything I happen to be eating (or pretend to be eating) :D

Awww is he a cuddly little guy? He looks like he may be. I had a parrot, my parents still have him. We never knew if it was male or female but I was a kid when I got him and named him Nibbles. He used to love to groom me and he would fall asleep on me. His wings were clipped so we would take him outside and let him sit in tress :) He was an African Senegal. Probably close to the same size as yours.

don't know that i'd call an amazon the "sweetest thing" LOL

there was a DYH amazon at work I named gonzo... i ADORED that bird, and wanted him - but I wouldn't have had enough time to split between him and my Havoc. Havoc comes first in this house!

Gorgeous fella you've got there. Very bright coloring.
