so, for those unfamilar, i have a "new" addition, Boo found me, hes an albino parrotlet, hw came from a bad situation where the guy was trying to breed him to his budgerigars (this cant be done, there 2 different types of birds and most p-lets will bully keets to death) he let boo, whos wings WERE clipped (luckily badly) outside. Boo somehow managed to fly from mas all the way to the southwestern corner of ct in about 2 weeks, and i found him on my mail box.

hes now been with me about a month.

well hes cute...when he arrived he was realy freeked out, i spent days tracking down his breeder/owner only to hear the story and get told, "looks like you got yourself a free bird then!"
i wasnt sure if he would be staying, but its been about a month and hes just such a sweet, cute and very easy bird. yup, looks like he'll be staying.

so ive been working with him every day...the forst 2 weeks he wouldnt come out of his cage willingly...no noise, no nothing out of him, he just sat in the corner of his cage quietly... eating only when he thought i wasnt around.

well now...
now when i walk inot the room he starts peeping at me and climbing all over his cage waiting for the door to open...wen it opens he plays a little "i dint want to come OUT" game by letting me scritch him on his head but clinging to the sides the cage for dear life. he REALY wants to have me leave him alone so he can climb ontop but right now hes in the livingroom where the crazy cat would snack on him if given a chance...
so, im persistent and he actually will step up when he realizes i aint leaving...
and when hes out, he not only sits with me, he will preen my hair, and as of today, for the first time ever, hes started CUDDLING!.
this morning he climbed into my top and snuggled between by boobies (theres plenty there lol)

then i took him out again at lunch time because he was peeping at me and doing his "open my cage" dance so i did and he came right on out after a head scritch and after about 1/2 hour of head scritching (he LOVES head scritches!) he played with my buttons for 5 mins before climbing back into my top for a snuggle and snooze. i let im sleep there for about 1/2 hour...

HES SOOOO cute!

for those unfamilar, parrotlets are related to amazon parrots and are a little smaller than a budgie with a short little tail like a lovebird

He's lucky the parrolet didn't chew up his budgies, i have seen it happen. Good for you for giving him a home. I am pretty supersititous about animals that come to you, not the other way around. IT is almost always a special union.

i agree, ive seen parrotlets tear even larger birds like teils and conures half to shreds, people dont realize these tiny birds are just very small AMAZON parrots and have as much personality in that tiny body as any nomrmal sized amazon parrot.

he was such a horrible man, i wanted to drive to mass to smack him one, hes lucky he didnt find alot of dead budgies, aparently boo was living with 5 female keets and 2 males in a cage just about big enough for one p-let, and he couldnt understand why he wouldnt breed with any of the females and had taken a toe off one of the males in only the 2 months hed had him...
he got him from the person whod origionally bought him from the "breeder" and was for some reason under the impression that Boo, being alblins would add some very cool "colors" to his baby parakeets...*blinks* when i told the breeder this he didnt realy care so i guess it says it all..
hes definatly picked our home, he seems to prefer me and my sister currently though. lol

I had a blue crowned Amazon, they are my most favorite of all the parrots. I am glad you got a Amazon in a little package.:)
