Hello everyone,
I'm never that great with introductions but my name is Malissa and I'm from Central Texas and I live here with my husband, four dogs, two kitties and our daughter. Currently, my husband is deployed to Afghanistan and while we're all missing him a lot we're working through it one day at a time. I thought I would join in on a forum that has something in common with me, a love for animals.
Currently in our crew are -
Demon - A 3 year old Siberian husky. He came to us on my birthday last year when a friend of my husbands could no longer properly care for him. He's been a great dog with a very laid back personality that I've been told is a little strange for a husky. Perhaps he's plotting world domination! :rofl1:
Kairi - Kairi is a 6 month old American Bully that my daughter begged me to have when a man stuck the pups in a "free" box at his garage sale along with her siblings when they were only 6 weeks old. We don't know if she's pure and honestly we don't care because she's the biggest love bug in the world and now, she's a part of our family.
Next came Cheyanne who is a 9 year old German Shepherd Dog. Cheyanne's story is a little sadder do to her age. A local soldier was moving and asked a couple to watch Cheyanne for him until he could come back for him. Well, a year passed and he never came back so the people who were watching her were seeking out a home because they could not keep her permanently. Should they not had found a home she would have been put to sleep and we couldn't see that happen so we took her in and she has been a joy ever since. She has arthritis and I'm working on getting her down to a proper weight but other then that she has been wonderfully healthy.
And last but definitely not least is Ivory who came to be only a week ago. Ivory was another free puppy that someone was going to take to the shelter if they couldn't find her a home. She is a sweet little girl but she won't stay little for long. Ivory is a lab/American Pit Bull Terrier/Bullmastiff mix. When Ivory came to us, I had a discussion with my husband via skype and we decided that this is the perfect amount of furbabies for us, however we do intend to foster for a local shelter.
I think that covers just about all of it. I hope to have a lot of fun here getting to know people, learning and sharing adventures!
