Yeah 2009 really sucks so far. My father passed away a couple of weeks ago because of a heart attack. He was only 50 years old...way too young to pass away if you ask me.

On the bright side, I finally managed to get a job. I've been job-hunting for the past 2 months and since our economy sucks, it took forever. But I managed to land a job at a grocery store...oh the joys.

I mean, I wasn't incredibly close to my father. My parents divorced when I was 4 years old. He then moved out to Oregon where he lived the rest of his life. He kept touch over the years with phone calls, emails, and IMs. He used to come out to Syracuse, NY (where i lived for the first 21 years of my life) to visit me every summer for a couple weeks. I moved down to Chapel Hill, NC to live with my girlfriend Jennifer (Izzy's Valkyrie) and I have been down here for a couple months now...so I have my girlfriend and my dog Izzy to help me cope.

Well maybe it'll be kinder to you than it has been to me. I lost my 17.5 year old cat to cancer last month, and my 5 year old ferret just died in my arms about half an hour ago to insulinoma. Can't wait to see what awful things next month brings :(
I'm sorry. :( Last year was awful for me. I lost 3 dogs in a matter of a month and a half, so I know how you feel.

There's plenty of year left, though. It will get better. Just keep your chin up.

2008 was an amazing year for me, but so far 2009 seems to be pretty dull.

I'm graduating high school and starting university this year, so I'm sure it will get better, though. :)

Thanks for all the kind replies. Sounds like this year has been pretty bad for quite a few already :(

I took her body down to the vet today to be cremated, and I feel a little better now having her out of the house. We've been struggling with insulinoma for 9 months now, and I guess she finally decided she'd had enough. As much as it hurt to have her go, I know she's not suffering any more.

I'm so sorry for everyone else that has experienced losses as well :(
