Well today was my first official day of unemployment, since my last daycare boy finished up on Friday. And I have to say, although I know I will be bored out of my mind soon, it was nice! It was nice to sleep in until 7:30, have a relaxed morning with the girls before school, DRINK a HOT coffee, get some stuff done around here, sit down when I needed to......and NO crying kids! :D

Andrew has been having a field day clearing out all the daycare stuff--I woke up Sunday morning to the sounds of him gleefully clearing out all the plastic plates and cutlery that have been cluttering up the kitchen for 4 years LOL!

Soon I will have my house back and all the daycare stuff sold (hopefully). This is nice!! :)

I can just imagine that today "whistle while you work" had a whole new meaning for Andrew. I hope that you find enough to keep yourself occupied! There's nothing worse than being bored for days on end.

I have two whole week before my surgery, so I need to find some projects LOL. I am sure that the house will be sparkling by that time! :D

I'll tell ya what when I stopped working I thought it'd be great. I slept in for about two weeks, lounged around in my pajama's for about two days, and just basically was lazy but I am so tired of staying at home now I wish I did work.

the babysitting noise really got to me..when i would move out or be gone for awhile i would get "un-use" to it. Then the roar of the children just drove me straight up the wall...after awhile you desensitize and it isn't so bad. I am still pretty darn fond of quiet. That just didn't exist in my home growing up. Mom kept 6 under the age of 5,...most 2,3,4 with a few infants thrown in. Little girls scream over every little thing, and the babies would cry..and set each other off, banging of toys, it was a racket.

It was one thing when my youngest was little--I was bringing in playmates for her and she was generally happy with it. But now that the kids are older (8 and 5.5) they really resented it. It was hard getting time with them in the morning, while kids were arriving and crying and getting into everything. And I found that afternoons were spent telling my kids to be quiet b/c kids were napping, and since the playpens were in their rooms they couldn't even play with their stuff :( It was taking a toll on everyone, so this is a blessing in disguise!

I feel incredibly guilty when I think about the times that dckids made my kids sick and then MY children had to wait for MY attention all day. But I can't take back those times, and the money I made from daycare did pay for things like swimming lessons and skating lessons so it wasn't all bad.

I need to get the girls ready for school in the morning--but it's nice to get started on my day early too. Weekends aren't that early though!

I know I will go nuts after a while--but I have a lot of catching up to do first! There are about 10 million little Barbie shoes and odds and ends that need to get sorted and into bins in the new "big girl playroom", and corners to clean etc. Once I am forced to take it easy and recover from my surgery, I will be INSANE!

your situation is so different then what i grew up with. Mom was alone and trying to hang on to the home so children never completely left. There were there on the weekends and holidays..evenings as well. Mothers tromped down the hall as early as 5 am. Mom had a soft heart and gave discounts to the young mothers that had 2 or more as well. She did have a perfect record and ended up keeping the children of children she once raised. I was never but never going to have children;) did that ever change..and never babysit:D ended up doing that too. It was difficult and i did try to stay away as much as possible which wasnt nice of me at all,but a bit understandable. If i was there i was another pair of hands. I thought they were creatures from outer space, even if i did have a few i was mighty fond of.
