Should a 1 1/2 year old dog still be on a puppy formula dog food?Does it depend on the breed?
Thank you

That is a good idea. To tell you the truth I never even really thought of that because I always thought that a food that is specifically for a dogs age group would be better. Thank you for the reinforcment
Oh and does anyone know a good food brand for a larger breed such as an American Bulldog? One of my family members is trying to decide what kind to go with... Actually I am trying to figure it out since I will be taking her hopefully very soon.

There are a lot of marketing gimmicks and a little bit of mis-leading advertisement when it comes do dog food and popular brands (Iams, Science Diet)...
I'd also stay far away from dog foods avaliable at grocery stores... (Ole Roy ect ect)...

Here's a good website to look at to learn about dog food ingredients; what to look for and what to avoid
www.dogfoodproject.com

Some of the better brands that are suggested on here often are
Innova
Innova EVO
Eagle Pack
Canidae
California Natural
Timberwolf
Natural Balance

among many others. . .

Ok thank you for the site i will check it out. Yeah I have heard that Innova and Timberwolf were good, but I have never seen any of these brands at any stores. Where do you usually buy these brands?

It depends on the individual dog. Depending on his or her needs, a puppy formula may deliver better nutrition than a regular adult formula.

An example for this would be California Natural Lamb & Rice. The regular adult formulas is 21% protein and 11% fat, which I wouldn't consider as ideal for most adult dogs, especially not for long-term feeding. The puppy version is 26% protein and 16% fat.
