    Comfort Zone Plug-in?

It actually releases a pheremone that triggers the dogs to calm down. Research DAP, that is the pheremone stuff that is in it and it is why it is so expensive.

    Petsafe Wireless fence...

Why not buy a simple fricking tie out?? Why do people love to resort to shocking their dogs? I don't get it. Get a skyline tie out that can go between trees, or give your dog a 50 foot tie out with a no-slip (not choker) collar. Make sure he cannot get too tangled and let him roam around the...

Three bad Habbits I (we) cannot Break.

Hey there.... If they did fine the one night being on the couch you could try it again. You do not say where the pen is that they are penned up in, maybe move it into your room and make it smaller if you have to. That way they are by you. Perhaps take them on a walk and tire them out before...

    At my wit's end.

Litter box training I don't know much about it other than what I have read but it seems to be a good option for people with small dogs. I think if I was 4 stories up I would litterbox train my small dog. Easier and healthier for the dog, they do not have to hold it so long, and I would not be...

    Ceaser Milan

You are confusing first you are defending Milan, but then you say you use positive reinforcement and operant conditioning which he doesn't use. You say wolf pack theory is incorrect not dog pack and that Milan in not a trainer so what is he??? I think you are defending Milan just to...

    The Dog Whisperer?

Basically the problem with Cesar is that his methods are very easily screwed up in the hands of people who are not working with trainers. Also, his methods are based on bad theories and he doesn't realize that he is causing the dogs more stress, not less. Read through the threads and follow...

    Rat Terrier: Gettting to sit

I called the people today and she stated he is sitting more at the home so she is capturing the behavior and trying to build on that. Thanks for all the advice.

His poop is becoming a really big problem

Let me clarify. Your English is excellent but I just want to make sure I am clear. He is housebroken and is going outside in the backyard. However you want him to go on the walks more instead of in the backyard due to cleaning issues? I would suggest taking him on walks more if possible...

    Rat Terrier: Gettting to sit

I did tell them to try to catch him when he was sitting, he is a ball of energy though. I think when he was in class he that day he was either laying down or standing. I will mention teaching down first and working off leash.

    Rat Terrier: Gettting to sit

Hey all, As you know I teach at Petsmart. I have a dog that may be a bit of a challenge. It's a Rat Terrier, 6mths old and in the first class did not seem to comprehend the idea of sit. I use clicker training but the student stated that they bought the dog from a breeder who shows and did...

This is getting dangerouse and I don't know what to do

If it is the clippers she doesn't like try buying a small Dremel Drill and a grinding wheel. You could grind them down. Some of the groomers at my Petsmart do this to dogs who hate clippers and it works well. Plus is seems to make it easier to avoid getting the quick. Good Luck.

    puppy troubles

Ok so here is step by step what you do. You do not let him run around until after he has pottied. You make sure you take him out frequently even if he is older to catch that potty urge. You stand like a statue until he goes potty because what is happening is he is getting distracted and...

    Ok I have to ask

That's cool that poop in the hole works. I realize it depends on the dog but what got me was the comment that it is not a natural behavior for dogs to dig.

    Ok I have to ask

because this is the craziest thing I have heard from a trainer. I also have heard that this doesn't work very well. The other trainer at my store was training two new trainers and they had questions from customers about how to stop dogs from digging. The other trainer stated "Put poop in all the...

What do you teach in an Intermediate class?

Hey all, I know intermediate Obedience is basically distance, duration and distraction but I want to know if there are others things you can teach. I was thinking about teaching the dogs not to walk in the street unless the owner oks it, maybe work on sitting while running in response to...

    Starting New Training Program

I would ask a set fee for writing the program, do not have any idea of how much though. Then you can charge an hourly for the students. The seminars I would include in the writing the program. You can do it as an "ongoing" education thing that you offer. I think this is a great idea...

    Advice please...

I got the PM and Thanks. I like the outing idea. One person has a very busy neighborhood she lives in so just walking around on the street is socialization in itself but I think the outing would be fun. I am going to start looking around for a Part time Vet assistant position as well...
